GoodDad:
Parents can you advise is there any GEP student <80% went to GAT but not selected for interview. I strongly believe all <80% should go for GAT+interview and there is no filtering from GAT for interview. But earlier info from KP parents that there is filtering.

Hi Leeven

I understand that all GEP boys have to go for interview, no filtering from GAT. The only different is that <80% take GAT. 80% and above no need to take GAT.

thnx GoodDad but with out filtering what this GAT add value , still question.
Agree with Leeven...what is the purpose of GAT if it is not for filtering...DD said GAT is all about patterning n patterning n more patterning...she came out of the GAT exam room looking like a zombie.

SACPS focuses more on values than academic. Being a catholic school, it also focus on building catholic girls' faith, and they have masses during Days of Obiligations and once a week Praying Parents Group. With this, I don't need to rush my girls to church during Days of Obligations as I know the school would have arranged for mass.

Don't worry much about your DD in P1. They will be well taken care of as there will be prefects on duty to bring & guide them on & off school bus and direct them to assembly points. The prefects are very helpful, kind & approachable especially towards the lower primary girls.
The P1s will be assigned a buddy to help them buy and carry food during the first week of school. The buddy will look for them - don't worry. Let your girls know that the prefects are there not take opportunity to \"catch\" their wrong doings but prefects are there to help. Approach the prefects whenever they need help - even for small matter like calling mummy ๐Ÿ™‚ The public/pay phone is a bit high for the P1 and you need coins to make phone calls. If you go to the General Office to call mummy, which is free, the lady there will have a string of questions to ask and end up sometimes reasons for calling not justified, DD can't talk to mummy.
There are many CCAs offered like archery, bowling, golf, taekwando, netball, ballet (always over-subscribe), violin, chinese dance, modern dance, caligraphy, cooking etc. Many of these are outsourced to external service provider but each CCA has a teacher responsible whom you can talk to during the year. CCAs are held during Monday to Friday. The school is good in perfoming arts.
P1 & P2 have no formal exams since 2 years ago. I think since government announced teach less learn more.
The CAs (P3, P4) and Mock Exams (P5) are not added or \"counted\" into the report book.
The school will start its new academic year in the new building in 2013.
Sign up as CCE (Cannossian Co-Educators) i.e. parents volunteer and you will be asked to be involved in the school activities like children's day, teacher's day, sports day, excursions...you will get to know more about the school and the parents. I have voluntered in many school excursions and I am proud to say that SACPS girls are very well behaved in the public and they are not \"noisy\".
Most school surely have some Kiasu parents lah...join the CCE and you may find some KS parents.
My girls are very happy there ๐Ÿ™‚
Good luck!

Hi!

How did the test go? I am so upset. I just found out today that there was an admission test for P1 2010 last weekend. I had no idea that there is such a test. I feel so guilty and ousy that I missed it. I should have checked the website every single day!
DD passed the exam :rahrah: Interview tomorrow. About 40 to 50kids took the P3 papers. Similarly for P1 & 2. Let you know tomorrow how many at the interview round. Really pray that they can get through the interview tomorrow. DD sound asleep, I am more anxious and worried than them. ๐Ÿ™
There is another admission exam in Apr/May 2010. You can start preparing your DD from now till then.

Hi Courage,

My DD got the merit award when she was in P1 so she is really happy to be able to receive the award again.

She was quite upset when she did not get the modal pupils award.

Hope that yr DD gets the award too!

Cheers!
Hi Herbie & Courage,
Congrats! Merit award is awarded to top 5% or less of the cohort? Thnx!

It is monsoon period in east coast mโ€™sia during year end. The sea is rough and often heavy rain.

We have been to both CM Bintan & Cherating. We took a CM Cherating coach package (4D3N). The journey was long & bumpy, and slow because at a few parts of the journey, the coach was following long trailers which transport big tree trunks. Not only that, we had to assemble at Newton Circus at 6am to board the coach. We got to Cherating about 1 to 2pm.

CM Cherating has sailing which Bintan doesnโ€™t offer. For golfers, CM Bintan can arrange for you to play at Ria Bintan which is just next to CM and the course is scenic. You have to pay separately to Ria Bintan.

If you have young kids below 2 yrs old, there is a petite club membership which you have to pay and CM will babysit for you including feeding your todlers. We enjoyed everything at CM - the food, activities, facilities, nite entertainment put up by their GRO.

hi,

I am so delighted to hear that there is a chance to get in at least at p2! Thats really good to hear! But I guess, you spent a lot paying for the tests right? And, what kind of papers did they give? SA2 kind?
Hi,
I am new to this forum. Just joined a couple of hours ago. My daughters will be sitting for the Admission exam on 23/10 to enter P4 in 2010. They will be sitting for English, Chinese & Maths papers and I do not know if they will be doing the SCGS SA2 papers. As for English & Chinese, they have to do Compo & Comprehension as mentioned by \"Mandarin\". There are 2 admission exams in a year i.e. Apr/May and Oct. Each sitting is $25 for Citizen. I would suggest to \"Little Princess\" to submit your application for your daughter to sit for the exam in the Apr/May 2010. I was told that the English in SCGS is 1 grade higher than normal school. Hence if your daughter is P1, she will be doing P2s English in SCGS. For the purpose of this Admission Exam, I have engaged an ex school teacher to tutor my daughters just for English. After sitting the paper exam, there will be an interview session. I will share with you (if you are interested) once the admission exam is over. The SCGS website has very clear instruction for the Admission Exam.
