      KSP:
The whiteboard in school is handwritten and the numbers come from the admin office so is almost quite updated in that sense. The MOE website and teletext also update it at around 7.30pm (once a day) but without the breakdown of the number of applicants in different distance.

MOE website only publish those schools which need to ballot a few days after each phase of 2B or 2C is closed.

I think the numbers on the whiteboard are only important for parents aiming for super popular schools where distance is critical. If a parent who stay 1-2km go to the school and saw the whiteboard that there are more applicants within 1km than the seats available, then the parent will not blur blur go and apply.
Thank you everyone for the info.
In that case, I think it's better to be there!!! I falls in the >2km category! :?:
arghhh.. this is getting too stressful. 😢
Good luck to everyone who's applying this year. :celebrate:

School P1 registration is still very manual. You only know the number of applicants in that school when you are there. There is no real time update on the screen (not like stock market) or something like that. The numbers will probably written on the whiteboard by parent volenteers (hopefully not those on the same registration).

An example in a school with following scenario of the 50 seats available for 2B
      within 1km - 20 applicants - all get in.
1-2km - 35 applicants, need to ballot (there will be 5 disapponted parents)
2km - no chance (try another schools).

One will know the chance based on the distance of address. The lesser the seat available the more critical is the distance.
Hi. I'll also be registering my daugher this july under phase 2c! ... pardon me if I asked anything that has been repeated before or if i sound stupid.. ... as this is my first time going thru this nerve wrecking experience. Am super stressed already..
PaiSeh but...Check with you once again, you mean when I register my DD during 2C, the school will update the no. of applicants on the whiteboard everyday during the registration period? Or only after they closed the registration?
      Thanks..

Oh... ChiefKiasu, would you happen to have the same report, but at phrase 2c, with no. of vacancy available & no. of applicants applied for it. If you do have it, pls share it with me/us. I've been digging high n low for this report. Ur help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

      Westgrove phase 2C:
      2006: 101 vacancies, 345 applicants
      2007: 125 vacancies, 316 applicants
      2008: 118 vacancies, 355 applicants

      Rulang phase 2C:
      2006: 49 vacancies, 174 applicants
      2007: 47 vacancies, 162 applicants
      2008: 81 vacancies, 154 applicants

Both schools conducted balloting for those staying within 1km in all 3 years for phase 2C. But the no of applicants MOE released on top include those staying out of 1km also (though that should be minimal I guess). So if you want to know how many of the applicants were within 1km, maybe u can call up the schools to ask.

      Hi Luanee,

      Thank you for the info.
:stupid: Within 1 km already balloting.. And only West Grove and Pioneer Primary is within 1km for me. Any comments about Pioneer Primary School? Saw somewhere in the forum tt the current principal was from Rulang. Is it true?

      Hi ST Lee,

Very much alike, I face similar problems as you. M residing in Jurong West and registrating P1 for my DD this July.

I have the Vacancy report for Phase 2cS in PDF but not sure how to share it in here. Chief Kiasu, can you guide me on that? 🙂 Thanks.
Alternatively, you can give me your email, and I will email you the report.

My suggestion to you is that you give West Grove a call closer to date to check on your chances. Based on the statistics, you have to be really lucky in order to get into West Grove under 2c. West Grove & Rulang are the most popular schools in Jurong West area. 😢

In fact, most schools located within 2 km from my pl, all require balloting.
So much abt asking parents to try to put their children near home. How to do that when it's so difficult to get into the school in the 1st pl. Haiz....
