Hi

Can anyone advise me if the school transport will be as usual (pick up to & fro) during the CNY Celebration day on 18 Feb 2015 if the parent were also to join in ?
Hi sgjlee, šŸ˜„
this was a reply to another parent on the mconline from the school:

Dear Parent,

The school will be celebrating Chinese New Year on 18 February 2015. The school hours are from 8 a.m to 9.30 a.m. Students still report to school by 7.40 a.m at the school hall for National Anthem and Pledge Taking. Thus, the school bus will fetch your child to school at usual timing too.

Kindly note that parents will only be allowed to enter hall after 7.50 a.m to join in the celebration.

Thank you

Hi Sgjlee,
I am not certain on the timings on the return bus to home. I would suggest that you telephone the bus operator or the school on Monday to find out the timing.

Hi,

Any parents here have their child enrolled with Pro-Teach? Can share your experience with pro-teach, their services etc?

Apparently my girl (P1 2015) told me that she was only given 5 mins for tea-break and thus could not finish her food in time. Also, based on what my girl told me, she said that the lunch provided is not enough. For the past few days, when i picked her up at 5pm, the first thing she said is that she is hungry and very tired. I am worried that pro-teach is not doing their best to take care of these children. It seems like my girl is feeling more tired as compared to when she was in full day childcare. I tried to ask her to take a short nap by resting her head on the tables but she seems quite afraid, saying that nobody does that and she is worried of being reprimanded by the pro-teach staffs.

Any feedback from parents will be greatly appreciated. TIA

Strawberry mummy, 5 mins tea break is too short. Have you check with the service provider? Any more feedback from mummies whose child in pro teach?

Hi berrypie,
the tea break is normally longer than 5 minutes. They have a 30 minutes lunch break when they arrive at the centre. A little later in the afternoon the children have a 15 minute tea break. It is possible that the first week of school the programme may have been a little different as it was a busy time for all. From what I have heard, the students and Pro teach staff have settled into their routine again.
The environment and the teachers are very friendly and I am sure your child is in good hands. You may wish to contact Pro Teach at West Spring and ask them to email you a copy of the student care programme including the timings.

I hope this information helps. You can also PM me anytime if you have any further questions.

To All Kiasu forum members,

Kiasu forum is a great tool for parents to ask questions and to communicate with one another. However, I don't think that it is good that this forum should be used to constantly criticize the school. If you feel strongly about something, I would suggest that you telephone the school directly to make an appointment to discuss the issue that you would like to raise. Let us all remember that new parents and potential parents will be reading this forum and it will hurt the school's image if there are continuous negative comments about the school.

I hope that you understand that we, Parents and The School, are trying very hard to promote West Spring Primary. The school management have done an exceptionally good job in communicating with parents. Please do allow them a chance to respond before venting out your frustration online.

Hi tenko!

I believe you don't speak for the school. However, if the school prefers to see only one sided views in this forum, please let us know. We will embargo all posts relating to this school, and this school shall not be mentioned in this forum henceforth. All future posts on this school will be embargoed, too.

This is a public forum. Kiasuparents.com do not become what we are today by presenting one-sided views only. Parents trust us to present a balanced view on issues and we will continue with this approach.

From your posts so far, one would think you are a staff of the school.

Please do not restrict any sharing by parents here. If you deemed any post offensive, please report to us. We will review and take action, if necessary.

Dear QMS,
Thank you for your message. I would like to assure you that I am not a teacher/ staff member. I am a parent of a student at West Spring Primary. I am very proud of the school and enjoy complimenting the school on their efforts and hard work. Nobody is trying to restrict anyone from using this forum. The school were the first to start replying to members and updating information from the very beginning.

Myself and a few other parents have helped in replying to concerns/queries. We are doing this as volunteers and nobody has asked us to do it. Why are we doing it? We are doing it because we are keen on helping other parents of the school. We are proud at West Spring Primary to call ourselves a FAMILY and we are happy to help each other.

The school has encouraged parents to use MConline to engage parents more and to build a stronger partnership with the parents. Therefore they are not replying to individual questions on this forum anymore.

There have been many members of this forum asking the school questions and waiting for a response. Some are upset that there is no reply from the school. Myself and other parents are only reminding members that for any questions/ concerns that need an answer from the school should be directed to MConline.

I hope this clarifies any misunderstanding that may have occurred.

2)A real good school welcome bad comments
3)We are all adult here, stop try to promote MC ONLINE here.
4)The school bus is a big problem
5)The school bus is very expensive

**sorry as my English is poor, but everythings i say is true**

:thankyou:
Hi Ben2112,
the school is just trying to remind Kiasu Forum members that they are now only replying to questions/concerns on the mconline parents forum. They are doing this to engage parents better and to build a stronger partnership with the parents.

If you require to know more about the school bus situation brought up by others, then I would strongly recommend that you either log onto mconline or telephone the school with your concern.

The school will not be replying on the Kiasu forum any longer. I hope this clarifies any misunderstandings.

Have a good weekend

Hi Strawberry Mummy,
it will take time for your child to adapt to the new environment as Student Care is very different from Child Care. Proteach at West Spring have being doing a good job and so far the feedback has been positive. They manage the majority of school based centres in Singapore and have been in the industry for many years. I would suggest that you telephone them or make an appointment to visit them and talk to them about your concerns. The teachers of the centre are a warm and friendly team and would be very happy to discuss everything with you. I am sure your child will be happy soon.
Hi Mummies, any info abt the student care center @ west spring? This year going to be my turn for my lo P1 registration so would like to find out more abt the student care there...

Hi berrypie, happy to hear you are planning to register next year. We all look forward to welcoming you to the West Spring Family.

West Spring Primary is the only school in the Bukit panjang area with a school based student care. The operator is Proteach. You may wish to call them to find out further information. Their number is 6892 2808.

Thanks tenko, i'm a working mum. Having my child to enroll in a student care center based at the same school will be less headache for me.. :slapshead: i need some feedback from those mummies when they left their child there..eg; activities, napping or meal over there.
Hi berrypie,
good to hear from you again. I will PM you some more details šŸ˜„ .

Dear All,

the first few days of the school year can always be a confusing and anxious time for all parents. Concerns we may have include transport, recess timings, uniforms and even which books we should bring 🤷 :nailbite: . Don't worry as these are concerns that many parents have all over the country at every level and at every school šŸ˜„ . You can see on the other kiasu forum sites that the concerns/queries from parents of other schools are very similiar to our own šŸ˜„ .

I would like to reassure you all that the children are in good hands at West Spring :rahrah: . The teachers and staff go to extra efforts to ensure that the children are safe and enjoy school life šŸ˜„ . I think that's the most important thing that our child is happy at school šŸ˜„ .

It does take time to adapt to a new environment and system and remember this is only the 4th day of the new school year. I heard from other parents that the dismissal was run very smoothly today and that they were very impressed with the organistation. Well done West Spring Team. :congrats:

Let's work together with the school to build an even better Parent-School partnership.

We have a few parents on this forum that will try to answer your questions šŸ˜„ . However, as I mentioned in an earlier post, please do log onto mconline to communicate directly with the school šŸ˜„ . It's only day 4 and already the school has replied to all queries and concerns on the mconline forum. We appreciate that the school is taking the time out of their busy schedule to communicate to parents on social media sites :thankyou: .

Hi All,

The School is trying to engage parents better by communicating with them on MCONLINE. They are doing this because they are working very hard in building a strong Parents-School relationship. Please give it a chance by logging on and joining the MCOnline parents forum. They are not able to reply instantly but are doing their very best to reply within 3 working days.

The school has already said that they will no longer be replying on the kiasu forum. I will still be here along with other parents to help in any way we can. But please remember that we may not have the answers all the time. If you wish to share your concerns or if you have any queries, please do go onto MConline. For any urgent/serious matters, you should telephone the school.

Thank you.
