Generally speaking Yamaha is more generous to give free gifts. Robert Piano is harder for negotiation.
I thought the free gift is fixed at all Yamaha outlets?

I was told the Steinways were all gone before most know about the relocation sale. Only the Essex and Boston’s left in showroom.
Not sure if the % discount makes sense for an Essex, which is basically made in China by a generic factory, under Steinway’s specifications. Well, you pay for Steinway’s marketing and brand name though. Personally I would go for a Yamaha U1 between the two.[/quote]
Can I say that U1 is a good buy?
I bought my Yamaha U1 during the GSS sale in 2012, not the year end sale. Actually, for every Yamaha sale, I don’t think they will lower the price, merely throw in more perks. I got 4 tuning sessions FOC and 2 chairs (1 adjustable type, the other is the normal type) and the cover. When i bought my piano during the GSS sale, the shopping mall (or some pamphets vouchers which I can’t remember) was offering a 5% rebate. On top of that, I signed the purchase using a Maybank family and frens card, which gives me another 5% rebate when the statement came. Hence my $8800 piano becomes less than $8K. I did not pay with instalment as the 5% Maybank rebate does not apply to instalments.
My suggestion is to check out which shopping mall offers you good deals (sometimes it can be free gifts) and which credit card offer you a good deal. If your DD/DS is already learning piano, it is good to buy a piano than to wait until year end as you probably will still get the same price.
U1 japan is abt 9k plus… i think can pay installment right ?
waiyean:Hmm, the brands you mention is easily $10K or more :lightrod:Avoid Cristofori brand as much as possible.ahyoo2002:Hi all,
I intend to buy a Piano for my DD who is in grade 3 now. As she is learning at Cristofori now, the school is selling Cristofori brand at a much lower price compare to Yamaha.
Anyone has any experience with Cristofori brand? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Not only is the sound subpar, even the workmanship is bad.
I have experience of the piano leg not being able to support the piano weight, and cracking under the weight. Cristofori acknowledge the defect and has to replace the leg as part of warranty.
If you want to make use of the student discount, go for other brands that Cristofori is dealing with. Some of the European brands are not bad, eg. W. Hoffmann, Bechstein, etc.

Eunice72:Earlier I have posted abt buying a piano for my gal who has just started learning piano. Yes she is into her 6th lesson and we have gotten her a piano, yangtze river. We were told it is between u1 and u3 but at a fraction of the price. Is brand new. And I can definitely feel the difference between a piano and the keyboard. I feel her fingering has improved. And now it makes a difference how long she holds onto the keys whereas on the keyboard there is no such difference. And the sound is diff. I feel is worth it. For the price, if she does not continue later on, is not too heartache to just write it off. Whereas if you rent, the piano is still not yours after the money spent. Though there were some hiccups with the delivery etc but is a separate issue.
Hi all,
Anyone has experience with Kinderland @ Woodlands Mart or MODERN MONTESSORI PRESCHOOL CENTRE @ Blk 750?
I am trying to choose one for my daughter. Thanks.
