as women, we are always watching the clock...that time bomb.

it's very tough to go from having a maid to being maid-less...but once you have decided, lessen expectations.

think of the amount of savings you're going to have NOT having a maid.
with that amount of money, you can treat yourself to a restaurant meal once a while.
i have not done housework for the past 7yrs... i will outsource weekly cleaning to a part-timer i guess. but it is the daily routines..

i dunno how much we can save frm not having a maid since eating out will also costs more.

FTWMs without maid n with young school going children, be prepared for the amount of energy n lack of Me time that you have to put up with.

Its very tough especially if you don't have any help from dh. You will have a lot of home stress on top of work stress.

Without maid is doable but don't have any resentment against anyone once you make up your mind.
my ME time stopped the day my #1 goes to primary sch. last time he was in childcare and sch bus brings him back, at least i can still steal some ME time after work. these two weeks, i have to rush to take a train to his school and we take a cab home together.. coupled with the transition of getting things done early so that they can sleep early, no ME time :(.

when maid goes off, i guess every minute becomes THEIR time, till they fall asleep. now i take care of myself in the mOrning, next time i have to prepare their breakfast, brush their teeth, help #2 change clothes and clean after hb before we set off.

feels very negative thinking of all these. how do Working mums with >1 kids manage?

      hi,

my maid of 6 years is going to go home in sept. I am a working mum, with 2 kids, age 7 and 5 this year. my #1 is in morning session and he goes to afterschool care. i fetch him back after my work and we are able to reach home at 6pm. Dinner is prepared by maid. i am able to bring the kids to the room to read bed time stories at 8pm after completing the necessary (bathing, enrichment homework, piano, some free play). my hb usually comes home at 8pm.

i intend to do without a maid after she goes back. but wondering whether i can make it…#1 will still be in afterschool and i bring him back to my mum’s place after work, #2 will then switch from half to full day and take school bus to my mum’s place… the kids will settle their dinner at my mum’s place then. but that means it is a chop-chop dinner and rushing home. then i have to bath the kids and let them do some piano and enrichment classes homework, everything chop chop.

i fret out thinking of all these. even now with maid, i am like a clock watcher, rushing for time. my #1 can even tell me last nite, "mummy if you are stressed out, u can come to my school, level 3, there is a consuelling room" pengg.
