Hello CHIJ Moms, my DD will be going into P1 registration this year and I am considering CHIJ QLP and De La Salle. I stay in CCK but would not mind the journey to QLP. Would like to ask your advice how is the school environment, teachers and culture? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi my elder boy is in De La Salle but I decided to put my girl in CHIJ OLQP. Firstly I was an IJ girl myself (though not from OLQP). Secondly IJ has affiliation which DLS does not have (for girls). My girl is in P1 this year and so far she is enjoying school. The school takes good care of the P1 to ensure that they assimilate well into the new environment. All P1s are given a buddy who will accompany them for recess for the 1st 3 weeks of school. I really appreciated that. The school also organized a pot luck session on a weekday evening so that parents can have an informal gathering with the teachers and other parents. However the school is rather strict on the attire of the pupil. For eg. all rubber bands for tying the hair must be black. The watch must also be black and the face of the watch must not be more than 2.5 cm. This is also to comply with CHIJ's motto 'simple in virtue, steadfast in duty'. IJ girls tend to form very strong bonds. I'm sure the friends she make in IJ will stay with her for a long time.

Would like to ask Catholic parents out there about the requirements for registration under Phase 2B.

Do I need a letter from my parish priest or would a certificate of baptism be sufficient to register?

Hi I used my baptism cert and it was accepted by the sch.

All Catholic Churches in Singapore. Either one parent or the child must be a Catholic to qualify under Phase 2B.

Hello,

Another parent told me that there will be 2 classes of HA (High Ability), amd the rest would be MA (Medium Ability)...I think they may also have a few classes of LA (Low Ability). Those that are in the low ability will probably have more extra classes for them to come up to speed....as end of the day everyone will take the same PSLE paper.....and do extremely well :imcool:

Hi best class this year is 3F followed by 3D. Not sure for 2012.

No prob...sorry for posting it so late though.
My dad picks my daughter and then my son. They both reach home at 145pm.

Although OLQP is much closer home than TP, I have more 'feel' for IJ TP as I was from there.

Same thoughts too. The ties are just too strong. I was from IJ Vic since kindergarten all the way to IJ Sec in TP. Guess I have to make logistics arrangement if I decide to put my girl there.

Is your daughter already in P1 IJ TP ? If not, chances of getting in under P2C is not possible...unless you are old girl.

Hi Janet, I am an old girl but thinking hard whether I should put my girl there due to the distance. I wonder if there are any similar cases like mine and if they put their girls there, how are they coping, considering they have to wake up very early in the morning.
