      Hi Chipyswim,

I share the same sentiments. I thought I will have a better shot at a sch that is just downstairs with the new policy in place but never expect having to go thru all these.

Sorry to hear that you have to go thru balloting again. What are your chances? How many fighting for how many places? I really hope you can get a place for your child at BGPS and we can exchange contacts to talk abt the Sch/teachers/CCA/HW etc. All the best!! Good luck! Good luck! Good luck!!!

      Hi Happyvon,

      Hi Happyvon,

Thanks for your encouragement. It's 15 vying for 10 seats. Wow, really need to pray hard. Hope for best results then can treat my whole family for nice dinner on 21 Aug.

Prepared for the worst scenario; if really got balloted out, hopefully MOE could post my daughter to OEPS and not to some other alienated schools. Really scary!

Hope to get in touch with you soon.

      Hi,

There is balloting done at Bedok Green for P2C(S) on 21 Aug (1 to 2 km). So anxious and stressful. It’s worse than taking exams. If really get it, I must jump for joy hip hip hurray. If not, need to queue and get MOE form so traumatising.

This whole process takes 1 month. Just imagine being SCs staying within 1 km radius (RS, FS, YN), can’t get in, I have to opt for further schools, oh my god…

OPES vs East Coast - the percentage rate of applicants registered differs so much, can’t imagine. Parents really don’t opt for unpopular schools. Why? No trust on teachers, or can’t trust their kids will do well in that school? Anyone care to share?

      Hi Chipyswim,

I am going for BG too. R u within 1km?

I also hv a gal in K1 this yr. It's nice to hear that we are in exactly the same situation. Hope both of us will get our kids into BG without the need for balloting.

I'm very transparent. Guess within 1 km - no need to ballot. I fall under the 1 to 2 km range. So it's confirmed I need to ballot for the 2nd time for BG. Around 4 pm, is like 15 vying for 10 seats. Leave it to God's will. Wish us luck. Hope that I am lucky to get in touch with you if my kid is successful for the balloting on 21 Aug.

      Hi HappyVon,

I'm not so sure as there is always another student waiting and dropping at the same location as my girl... the bus will pick up my girl from my blk ( there is another OPES student living at my blk taking the school bus )and drop my girl at the student care ( there is another OPES student going to the same student care)... Maybe u can try calling the bus company( the phone no is on the school website ) and ask them for more details.
      Hi HappyVon and Jamum,

It's so stressful to register my daughter under P2C(S). It's definitely a difficult choice to make that is either to choose BG or OEPS.

My daughter was balloted out from YN under Phase 2C and I was utterly devastated and cried almost the whole day on 7 Aug. However, I've decided to choose BG for P2C(S) as it's nearer to my house. If there is a need to ballot again then I will leave it to God's will whether she could enter BG. If she can't, the next option is OEPS.

I was super concerned cos both of us (parents) need to work and we need to send her to a student care centre and I had registered with one at Blk 509, Bedok North St. 3. The results will only be out tonite on the need for balloting (BG). Let's cross our fingers and hope for the best.

All parents want our children to do well in school. I'm also exposing her to P1 and P2 syllabus. My younger daughter (K1) this year is currently doing P1 assessment books. She mentioned to me that the lessons taught in PAP sparkletots are too simple where she learns colouring, simple vocabulary and painting. She actually requested for more challenging worksheets. Times are different.

We could keep in touch and it's good to form parents' group session so that we could communicate and get to know the school, teachers and parents' coaching to their children effectively.

Kudos to us who makes an effort to nurture our kids well.

      Hi happyvon,

BG and OPES are comparable. Both schools are just as good. Good luck to both of us.

Hi. I was balloted out of Red Swastika and need to enter to phase 2CS. Am considering Bedok Green and would like some advice, both good and bad about this sch. Pls pls advise. Thanks.

Hi, I was balloted out of Yu Neng to enter Phase 2Cs. Both of us are worried and highly stressful. It will be good to go on the 15th to see the applicants registered. Are you staying within 1 km radius from Bedok Green? If positive, high chance will go in. However, I suspect there will be balloting done for Bedok Green for applicants < 1 km radius. So all the best to you.

There are quite a few student care centres at Blk 509 and Blk 510 Bedok North Street 3. You can go there and explore. I went there to reccee too. Some student care centres are very practical. They only take in students from Yu Neng and Fengshan. Others maybe St Anthony. Further than that they would not take in. Surprise, surprise, we pay for the student care but they got right to reject. Times have changed.

You can check MOE website for schools at Bedok and Tampines. Go through the schools' academic, CCAs and other achievements, see which is best for your child. Kudos, we could share experiences once our children have entered P1. All the best.

    • RE: All About Primary Schools' Balloting History

      Hi,

We just have to accept our fate if our child is not able to get into a school after balloting at Phase 2C. Having our children being put on waiting lists is just a formality. Unless there are parents who needs to move to new flats, then the waiting priority comes in - then the Principal will have to conduct interviews with parents.

We should have an open mindset that other neighbouring schools are just as good. Just a thinker ‘it is our child who is going to sit for the assessments, tests and exams, not the school’. If we parents are able to nurture our kids well, be it physically, emotionally and psychologically, we have won the battle.

Like other worried and fustrated parents, I’m unable to get my child to the preferred school which I want, which is within the 1 km radius. I cried the whole morning and done self-reflection at home. However, I need to accept the fact that it is not the end of the world. Most to most, we have to engage a school bus for her. As working parents, I have to engage student care services which is near to my house. My parents and parents-in-law could not help as they stay far away. Do I have a choice?

Besides home coaching that I had with my daughters, I will gauge whether they could study on their own once their P1 results are out. Then I will decide whether tuition is necessary. They are still so young, should let them enjoy their childhood life rather than stress them too much.

The bottomline is, be positive and do the best for our child.
