Thank you hquek for answering the questions. Yes, GEB offers the programme to all who qualify, and to more students than there are vacancies. This is why there is no waitlist. And a hotly debated topic about gender quota has also been answered by GEB (no quota based on gender). So in essence, whether my child qualifies or not, or whether she accepts or not, has no bearing whatsoever on any other child in Singapore who qualifies for GEP.

Yes, we know what GEP is all about. We have friends who are in the programme and have seen both pros and cons of GEP. DD and I have both agreed before taking the selection and screening tests that we will not change school even if she gets through. Personally, I place greater emphasis on holistic development – character building, sports and the arts on top of academic success.

DD got in but we’re declining the offer. DD has never had any tuition or academic enrichment classes, never done assessment books, never done past year exam papers. She didn’t even get High Distinction for UNSW papers. Schook life has been smooth sailing though, and she enjoys school very much. Not bored at all.
