      Hi Denzel4107,

Saw your post and your decision...and i'm sure u will see the difference of your kid after he go to Eipic centre for the lesson. As a single parent, if the transport fee is too high for u to afford, u can speak to the social worker in the Eipic centre that your kid is going. A social worker from the centre will assist you, so whatever u need help u can speak to that social worker. I'm also a single parent so i had requested for the financial assistance for school fee and transportation.
The lesson include Occupational Theraphy, Speech Theraphy etc as our kid is (Global) Development Delay..they will work on it to help our kids.

For ST Alban suggestion, it will be expensive and maybe that will be a latter part of it after your kid went for the pyschological test bah.. the pyschological doctor will advise u on that. As i feel that Eipic centre they cater for everything ur kid need to learn and u can get subsidy for it and how many time he need to go to the class...for private one u cannot get subsidy. My son had went for the pyschological test to see if he ready for Pri 1. With discussion with the doctor, i had decided to let him go Pri 1 but i need to get other support too..so now i also enage private special tutor for him just 1 time/wk. I may still change to other centre which the doctor had recommended to me after he is in Pri 1 next yr. Special tutor 1x/wk for mainstream may not enuff..but it also tutoring fee not cheap...which i maynot be able to afford it...so now just prepared him for Pri 1 can see how... i think i write too much liao...anyway..is just advise..just go with it and our kids will still shine..
      Thanks dear!
Glad that I can get the moral support of u guys here.
I will try my very best to give all I can to my kids...

Yes I won't be able to afford private as it way out of my monthly spending budget. But thanks for your advise too, ST Alban... 😄

my boy at age of 4years 6 months still not ready for his writing & speech, hence the PCF that he is attending actually had an assessment at school with those PCF specialist/social worker flagged his case out to me...

Pronunciation issue, fine motor skill, not attentive in class, thinks of playing all the time, etc...

      !

Just for consideration, more than 10+ years, when there were few early intervention centre, one approach was to allow child to repeat Nursery. Some children benefit as they fit in better in terms of curriculum & social maturity. It also allows the child extra time to work on foundational skills. While some children will not outgrow certain behv or learn skills automatically, esp if they need specialised help, they will be able to cope with primary one somewhat better, compared to automatic progression to primary one.

If you child gets a place in EIPIC within the year, it will be a bonus.

I have seen children who complete EIPIC program but are unable to read. I always feel school curriculum should complement a child's development, rather than hoping the child can somehow catch-up. It doesn't make sense if EIPIC is doing abc or 3-letter word while the child has to sit through reading lessons in childcare. EIPIC & childcare program should augment development.

One more year at Nursery 1 or 2 or K1 can help some kids.

      Just some thoughts

Yes at first I'm super sad n depress ... No mothers will want to hear this from the teacher ... And I stupidly went to read on forum n think negatively, cried n cried...

In the end, pack up my sorrows and tell myself n family that this is not a bad thing, consider eipic or integrated child are as a extra tuition lesson for my boy. He can improve n why not ...

      Thanks for the advise

      Hi Denzel4107,

May i know wat workshop u attending, wat did the social worker said? My boy also went thru KKH then to intervention program before he start his intervention program in EIPIC. Btw, for the selection of EIPIC centre, the staff will highlight which centre need a caregiver present during the class when we go for a briefing abt this EIPIC program. I also in the midst of family problem when enrolling my boy to EIPIC centre.
You can talk to the one who incharge of your case and see if ur area which EIPIC centre near u or transport is provided. For medical fee, u can talk to doctor and he/she will refer u to see social worker on medical fee. Speak to the social worker and they will help you. Don't give up...
      Hi ivylow,

Attended a eipic workshop by kkh, it's a workshop that tells u on how to choose the eipic school, and also have group chat session with other parents. Sharing session. And social workers are there to help on the queries .
Anyway the nearest eipic sch is at amk, but I have decide that to enroll him into a school with shorter waiting time n must have sch bus to fetch him. My aunty is taking care of my 2 kids for me so she will not b able to bring n fetch him personally.
Now waiting for CPAS school to call me n inform on the waiting time n appointment to go down.

Pronunciation issue, fine motor skill, not attentive in class, thinks of playing all the time, etc…

PCF social worker refer me to take him to polyclinic to get a referral letter to KKH. After the 1st consultation, now awaiting for specialist review and concurrently, attending a workshop at KKH regarding on EIPIC.
Now i’m so headache, my boy is almost 5 years old this sept, the social worker mentioned I have to consider enrolling him to a shorter waiting time EIPIC centre but I’m caught with situation that after shortlisting the school with shorter waiting time, its AWWA school BUT its Mandatory to have Caregiver’s Presence! I’m a single parent with 2 kids, … I’m bless with my maternal aunty helping me to look after the kids. I have to work… I really don’t know how…
Then next social worker mentioned that they will try their best to help me write a letter in due to my boy age, the sch might not take him in.
But when I headed down for the 1st consultation with KKH hospital specialist, she asked me not to worry about enrolment or financial issue, they will help me out, I felt I’m not alone and there is hope! But now after attending the workshop, after hearing what the social worker said, i’m like feeling helpless again!
