RE: School Of The Arts, Singapore
Hi, I am also a hopeful student who would really like to join SOTA through ballet and I would like to enquire more about the auditioning process. (sorry for the spamming...) I have read through the whole SOTA website about the auditions, the events and the curriculum and I am really excited and would like to be a part of this talented community:)
I am currently in my final year (equivalent to Sec 5) of the IB Middle Years Programme in Malaysia (I'm a Malaysian). The MYP is the programme that can be taken by middle school students before proceeding to IB Diploma. I really have a strong passion for dance, especially ballet, I would not mind the long hours of school as it is something I really am passionate for...
As I am doing both the IB programme for Middle School and IGCSE O'Levels at the same time, I would only finish my O'levels in June 2013. Therefore, I can only start school in SOTA (if I am accepted) in 2014. May I know if I could audition in 2013 and only start school in 2014 as a Year 4 or Year 5 student?
I would also like to know if there is a fixed percentage of students who are accepted into SOTA, and what are the qualities and characteristics that they look for as a student and a dancer? Do you have to have taken part in various dance competitions in order to be accepted? I have only attended workshops in Malaysia, but never competed in a dance competition. I have only finished my Grade 8 RAD Ballet and I am about to take my Intermediate exam next week. Is it good enough?
And since I am a foreign student, would there be different tests that I would have to take? Would there be other arrangements needed to be done before the audition? Are there scholarships for international students?
Sorry for the amount of questions... I would just like to find out more as I'm quite uncertain about several things and I would just like to clarify them.... Thank You very much. Your help would be very much appreciated.
THANK YOU!
