We just chose and put all the artwork that were done in the last 1-2 years in a clear folder. Would be good if a portfolio of different media artworks can be presented so as to demonstrate his technical skills and creativity.

It is a program that is offered to students in sec schools (including IP schools). Only selected students who pass the test at the start of Sec 1 are offered which will come with a scholarship from MOE.

Hi, All

I'm interested to find out more on AEP.
If my son is seating for PSLE in Yr 2019, when is interview for AEP? In jan-march of yr19?
Does they need to prepare a portfolio prior to interview?
What are the usual questions or info that they seek during such interview?

Thanks in advance !
There are around 12 designated sec (IP/OP) schools which offer AEP so you need to gain admission to these schools first. MOE has also offered this program to non-AEP schools and students have to go NJC (a designated AEP Centre) for their weekly/ bi-weekly lessons. Accordingly AEP selection/ interview is usually conducted in the Jan/Feb in sec 1; in your case will be 2020.

There's no need for a nicely done up/ glossed portfolio. My DS just brought along his A2 art folder with selected pieces of artwork which he wanted to share during the interview session. For my DS's school, they will do a pre-selection of the interested/ potential students during the 1st or 2nd regular art lesson. They were given some drawing/ sketching tasks to do and those who cleared this pre-selection round were asked to go for round 2 with the AEP teachers. For this round, they were given some recycled materials and each (individual work) was supposed to make something out of these materials. They would also present their portfolio to the teachers. Some general questions were being asked, eg. why are you interested in this program, what do you hope to gain from it. I believe the teachers would find out about how passionate the students are, and would also tell them of the expected commitment level. As this is an additional subject on top of the regular art lesson, the students need to put in extra hours every week for lessons and projects/ assignments.

An acceptance of this 4-year program comes with a scholarship (read: commitment) of S$2400 p/a.

I would guess so as Kay22 has mentioned that now WL letter never mentioned Wl1 or wl2.

If this year 2017 HCI do away with WL2, leaving only WL1, then think Kay22's P6 child should have a high chance, of conversion from WL to CO.

Should I send an email to verify with the school or wait till the clarification session on this Friday? WL could also mean DS has to work hard in order to convert it to CO 😓
I believe you mean working hard and getting in via PSLE score?

There's nothing you (the child I mean) can do before the school converts WL to a CO...

Hi Alie, may I confirm that your DS has a platinum in SMOP this year? Thank you.

Hi diannec...not platinum 1 level down should be gold can't remember exactly but he went for 2nd round SMOP.
Your DS must be an all-rounder as there are so many Gold award recipients this year. My sincere congratulations to you and your boy 😄
