      Hi Solver,

The first two steps are understandable.
On third step why we need to find the difference and the time is calculated based on that speed.

      Thank u,
      DNLNMUM.

      Dear parents,

pls help on the below question.

On Friday, shirts in a shop were sold at $30. On Saturday, a discount was given on all shirts, and the number of shirts sold increased by 20%. The total amount of money collected increased by 14%.
      (a) What was the price of a shirt sold on Saturday?
      (b) What was the percentage discount given for each shirt on Saturday?
      Ans : (a)$28.50 (b)5%

      Thanks,
      DNLNMum.

      Friday
      Price $30
      Number 100%
      Amount 100%

      Saturday
      Number 120%
      Amount 114%

      Price = Amount / Number
      = 114/120 x $30
      = $28.50

      a) The price of a shirt sold on Saturday was $28.50.

      30 - 28.50 = 1.50

      1.50/30 x 100% = 5%

      b) The percentage discount given for each shirt on Saturday was 5%.

Hi KangKangteo, Thank you for the fast reply.

      Hi,

Can anyone help on the below question. Thanks in advance.

      Hi DNLNMum,

      Let's try:

      http://i60.tinypic.com/6rm2ib.png\">

      (Y) - (X) = 13.5 cm sq

      (Y + Z) - (X + Z) = 13.5 cm sq

      (1/2 x 7 x 9) - (X + Z) = 13.5 cm sq

      (31.5) - (X + Z) = 13.5 cm sq

      (31.5) - 13.5 cm sq = (X + Z)

      (X + Z) = 18 cm sq

      18 = 9 x 2

Length of AB is 2 cm

      Hope this helps

      Cheers
