Hi sridharps7,

Welcome to Cedar family ! :rahrah:

Maybe you can click on the link below and choose \" Car Park Label Application Form\" option. The form is located there.

No worries ! We shall learn from each other ! πŸ˜„

Just received an email from school that on 2 Jan 15, the Y3 will be having orientation too ! :rahrah: All lessons will be suspended for that day. Reason cited was the school is helping the students to transit into upper secondary. That is great isn't it ? Didn't remember having orientation for sec 3 during our times ! πŸ˜„ Appreciate the school's effort to help the girls bond with their new classmates (after Sec 2 streaming) :boogie: πŸ•Ί

Also the time table for 2015 is already out and available via the LMS. Y1 Cedarians joining us next year will be given their login password and ID during the 1st week of school re-opens, irrc.

That's very nice of the sch to create bonding opportunities for the girls, even at Y3. Are the girls from both tracks grouped randomly for orientation? my dd is looking forward to meeting her ex-classmates in Cedar, and meeting new friends πŸ˜„

During my dd's time, they were grouped into their respective classes so that they could get to know their classmates better. There were inter-class games as well to help the girls bond as a cohort. There was a mass dance too. The orientation programme is solely planned and executed by the student leaders, hence might differ from year to year.

Yes, it is great to look forward to a brand new year, new school environment, renew friendships with ex-classmates and make new friends. And not forgetting great learning too ! Hope your dd will blossom here and enjoy her 4 years in Cedar. πŸ˜„
Thank you, All, for your kind sharing regarding school shoes.

      I hv more questions

Pocket money - Is $5(exclude drinks) sufficient for CCA days?

CCA briefing - on Reporting Day, it was mentioned that there will be a day (can't remember the date) where CCA briefing will take place and parents are allowed to attend the briefing. Did I get this right? Is it common for parents to turn up for this, or do most girls attend without their parents?

      TIA

The price range for the food sold in the school canteen is between $1.20 to $2. You can try giving your dd $5 first and remind her to feedback to you if she finds it insufficient during CCA days.

You may attend the CCA briefing but for my case, I let my dd attended on her own coz she would be looking at the audition dates for those CCAs that she was keen to join. πŸ˜„

      Thank you for your advice.

I also think it is not necessary for me to be there.

May I ask which year is your dd in? It's ok if you dun wish to say πŸ˜„
My dd will be in Y3 next year. πŸ˜„

Anyone can shed light on how the students are grouped(classes)? Psle scores or random mix?

      O level classes are C, H, A, M, S (sports class)
      IP classes are P, I, O, N, Z

      Random mix of PSLE t-scores.

There will be a CCA week where there will be auditions and trials for the girls to try out all the CCAs. At the end of the β€œexercise\", the girls are allowed to choose 6 preferred CCAs. Hope my memory doesn't fail me !

      Thank you!

      You are welcome ! πŸ˜„

Hope it helps in your decision making. Cedar is a very vibrant school and from what I observed for my dd, the girls are very closely knitted though from different ethnic background and culture. For my dd, if there is anything she is unsure, she always check with her teachers or her seniors in the same CCA are more than willing to coach her.

My dd is keen to join the Performing Arts if she gets a place in Cedar.

Anyone cares to share how cca allocation is done in Cedar? Are the girls encouraged to try out at all auditions, or only a selected few? Any comments on Cedar handbells n guzheng? Dd is very impressed with Cedar Choir. Dd was not from any Performing Arts cca in her primary sch. Would that put her in a disadvantaged position?

I believe the school website is not updated with their ccas' achievements. Last update for Cedar Handbells was a silver award in 2009 n nothing thereafter :?
