    • RE: All About Choosing Piano Schools And Teachers

Hi everyone. I previously worked in the finance industry (SGX and hedge fund), but have decided to do my own startup. As such, I am thinking of teaching piano in my available time as I have always been passionate about classical music. I can teach composition too (NWC and Finale software) as I compose every now and then. I do own a good piano (Sauter PURE 2000 Noble with ebony keyboard from Steinway & Sons), and I would definitely want the students to come to my place since I believe a good piano nurtures a student’s playing.

My question is, where do I find my first batch of students and how much should I charge them?

      These are my piano credentials:

Former Yamaha STPC student (young prodigy programme for selected students), 1993
Former student of Prof. Ying Shi Zhen, 1993
Former student of Mrs Marie Hong, LRSM (concert pianist teacher), 1995
      NYP Piano Ensemble Coach, 2005
      Cristofori Piano Rectial, 2006
      C. Bechstein/Cristofori Piano Recital, 2006
Composition: Sonata Rondo for Two Pianos in G major Opus 1 Nr. 1, 2008
Composition: Etude E-Flat Minor Opus 2 Nr. 1 (shortlisted by examiner for ABRSM repetoire), 2010

      Many thanks!
