Not sure if it’s good.
But because it’s comes with tuitions and enrichment . Full package cost $600/ mth.
Do your think the amount is a lot

Heard this student care comes with extra tuition ( science, math, Chinese , English) and enrichment class( art, piano, coding)
During the student care hours .( but of course is abt $380/ mth- with 1 tuition subject + 1 enrichment lesson )

Any one have any comments of such type of student care?

For any parent who is still interested, my child started JMC at 4.5 yo, then started JXC for a term and switch to individual class at 7 yo. She took ABRSM grade 2 a year later, distinction. Now she also just got her grade 5. She was already reading notes on her own in JMC as she played the pieces at home using the JMC book. My other child who started piano individual at 7 now got ABRSM grade 3 too.

My take is, if your child is showing signs of interest in music and hitting at the keys on the keyboard (happened to mine) at 3-4 yo, JMC is a great music program for younger kids. If your child is not able to sit through 30mins, like my other, no hurry, Individual lesson can start at 6 or 7. no need prior learning before that. I would advise not to force learning music/piano onto a child if it is premature. Mine told me he wish to learn the piano at 7 before we started.

Piano lessons need finger coordination and on both hands first, whether on keyboard or acoustic piano. so JMC still will benefit learning. But if you want to learn piano as an instrument seriously, individual lessons are geared towards fingers and hand techniques etc. Most ideal if the child can continue both JXC and individual lessons after 6-7years old; JXC is good for ensemble and music appreciation, I also understand it got composition component while individual lessons is good for techniques, theory etc. But once kids start primary school, time is a critical factor.

I try to find more chances for both kids to play ensemble together to make up for what individual lessons lack. Piano teacher also organises regular performance classes for students to show case their learning.

Music is like English, encompasses several components, and piano is an instrument to learn music. These two go hand in hand.

We have to ask ourselves what do we wish to achieve at the end? pianist? piano teacher? music teacher?
For me, music is a good therapy for my high energy kids. It helps with focus span and practicing teaches discipline. It is good for developing fine motor skills. For my hyperactive boy, it has improved his cognitive skills. He is doing better in school and more confident now.
For my higher ability (not tested but at least comparatively) girl, she just simply enjoys the sound of the piano and how her fingers can do magic. And I think piano satisfies her ears' hunger for the fineness of beautiful sounds.[/quote]thanks so much for this reply.
i am browsing around , have thoughts to introduce music to my 3.5 daughter. reason because she loves music, moves around when music started to play(not sure isit love dancing or just music).
thats why i have plans to let her to try out this JMC to see if she likes or not.

I myself learnt piano before when i am 6, i rem when i am young, my parents sent to me 1-1 piano class at another sch. i dun rem i have any great interest in it, I only rem I am asked to go and so I attended the weekly piano lesson. 4 -5 years had passed, it became more and more difficult, I am unable to pass when i reaches grade 4or 5 i think, keep failing and i feel so depress and hate going to lessons, when i reach p6, I need to deal with i think grade 6 exams and psle, stressed and cant cope and skipped lessons. eventually i told my parents i wan to give up piano because I dun like(also because it become so dificult that i cant cope and I dun have anyone to seek up to.)
I dun rem my parents ever ask me if i love piano or not.

Thats why I myself does not want to end up like what my parents did.
Must really ask what your kid wants.

I am considering k2 prep class in jurong.

Ignite tuition centre vs A grader.

A grader itself seems pretty famous, but there are rather only 3 timing available and phonic only 1 timing.

Whereby ignite tuition centre has almost mon to thur, sat and sun evening classes for per subject.

Price wise , 4 lessons per mth is about $120 for each .

A grader -
only math and English ( in 1.5 hrs for both)
Phonic (1.5 hr)

Ignite -
math and english (1 hr for both)
Chinese (1 hr )
Phonic (1 hr)

same here, I have a Dec 2014 son, and yes he will be in P1 next year. would like to ask if anyone here know any specific things to teach first for them to transit smoothly to P1 nex year?

some that i know of:

1)start giving them weekly spelling/tingxie .(because MOE sch does not have this in k2)
2)start giving them a routine study period.
3)start teaching them how to differeniate between 10cents, 20cents, 50cents, $1 , $2 (money).->they need to purchase food in P1 recess time.
4)start teaching them how to read time (clock).

Hi, from what I had read from the previous post in 2015 in this trend, usually balloting in phase 2c is only for those staying < 1km have chance.

Those more den that dun even need to think.
Unless u are at phase1-2b.
