<Exam preparation- Unlike MS where past years exam papers and assessment books are easily available, how do you support your child in their exam preparation?

I remembered i hadda buy p6 assessment books for mine to practise when he was in P4/P5. You know in popular they grade the assessment books by level of difficulty. You need to get the most challenging ones. Especially helpful would be those that goes by topics, then you can zoom in to the relevant topics.

I think they are still doing gep common tests for mid yr. The drilling for psle only starts apr/may where they do past yrs psle papers.

Mine is in p6 gep this yr and during the briefing, we heard that so far only 1 or maybe 2 students left the program. So they are very confident that their selection criterion is robust. If u didn’t deliberately prep him to get into gep, he shld have the intellectual capacity to cope.


That being said, p4 was a transition yr that could be slightly challenging. but i don’t rem mine being exceptionally stressed nor did i have to go for extra tuition and he wasn’t in your words "top performer in the mainstream classes" too. What was more difficult was the filing he needs to do as there are no textbooks.

As i read, something is becoming clearer. A more stringent criterion is being applied to geppers. Even a gold medal does not get you an interview for math domain.


If you are MS, in the name of diversity, even no math medals also can get you an interview for RI. Not sure if this really just apply to the uber-competitive math or is across the board?

All in the name of diversity for the top schools.


My gepper DS got shortlisted by RI using EL and i guess we were lucky we escaped the ultra competitive math domain esp for boys.

But to put it all in perspective, since only a very small number will get COs, so ultimately it’s still very low probability and the end game is still that PSLE!

You're allowed to apply to 2 domains per school. You'll attend both tests/ auditions but the school will only offer one at the end, ie. The student will not get 2 COs/ WLs from the same school.
