      Hi Pinkamoon

What test you sent your son to take when he had dark circles, to remove all allergen?

Beside GAPS diet/NAET treatment anyone tried gluten free diet ? Is both diet similar?

      Hi Snow 24,
There are many tests to take for allergies. I took him to Thomson Hospital. You can call to enquire about the allergy tests.

Gluten free is not as thorough as GAPS. I tried GFCF diet on my son for half a year without results. All the GFCF cookies and food allow cane sugar, maize starch, corn, soy etc which are not good for our children. After implementing GAPS diet for 3 months, I saw a change in my son. He responded to my call and came back looking for me when I called him.

Healing their body is a long process, it takes many years for their leaky gut to heal.

About GAPS, did you try making the sauerkraut? I’m wondering if it is safe to do it in Singapore’s hot, humid weather. Won’t the cabbage go bad in the kitchen?

It’s his pre-school teachers who are insisting on sending him for a full diagnosis. Their main complaints are that he doesn’t take naps and he doesn’t sit still in class, therefore disrupting it. Though I’m sure that there are other issues, just that these two raise the biggest red flags for them.

We sent him to his PD for a check up. We asked if he should be referred to a psychologist and he said that there is nothing wrong with my boy and to consider changing schools. It’s just so subjective…

We are trying GFCF and it seems to help. Well, he has an allergy to milk so CF is a must. But GF is soooo difficult! However, we noticed that if he has taken gluten, the monkey in him comes back. When he is off gluten, the monkey appears to be more tame.

GAPS is even harder to do… where do you get your supply of bones for the broth?Does anyone know where to find organic grass fed beef bones in Singapore?

I’m really confused about whether my boy needs intervention. sigh where do I begin?

If he goes for screening and is labeled, will it be in his medical records? Can it somehow be done anonymously? I’m concern about labelling him at such a young age.

And if we do decide to send him for screening, where are the best places to go for assessment? I’m thinking that psychology is more an art than a science. To someone, he may be completely normal… to another he might be on the spectrum… how can we be sure that we aren’t going some place that is just out to make money or to conveniently mark anyone who is quirky as being on the spectrum?

Do the therapies really work? Or will being treated as "special" make the child’s self esteem be lower? How can we find out what therapies are available and which ones the child needs?

Has anyone tried a holistic therapy like the GAPS diet/NAET treatment? Did it work?

Also, we tried the sitting exercise. It seems that he can "sit" if he is moving some other part of his body. e.g. his hands, or his legs… I just did lego with him for a full hour and he did not once move his butt from the chair. He did the whole thing from start to finish… does that count? Or does he have to sit with nothing else to do? His teachers often punish him by making him sit on stools and "reflect upon what he has done"… he can’t do that…

There are moments when he can be completely "normal" and have very good conversations and eye contact. But there are times when his behaviour can be completely inappropriate. It’s just so frustrating!

      Hi

I am new to this forum and would like to say Hi! to all the mummies and daddies here!

I’ve got a boy who is 4yo and seems to be possible ASD. I’m now trying to teach him to sit still in class. He is now in full day child care and they have lessons that require the children to sit within a pre-defined square on the floor. My boy has trouble respecting this rule when the lesson doesn’t appeal to him (e.g. chinese class). And he will start to wander around the room and play with the books/toys. The teachers have tried all means and ways to get him to join the class or at least just sit within the box…but he won’t comply. None of the other children have this issue. And they are saying that by this age, they should be able to understand the class rules and the consequences of not doing so… My son is constantly in a "war" with the teachers about this. They think they he is not obeying authority and is disruptive to the class which often results in lose-lose outcomes on for both the teachers and my son…

I’m wondering how to teach him to do so… any ideas? It’s causing him to be cast as a "misfit" even by the other children. So it’s quite a serious problem when he doesn’t follow the social norms of the classroom…

Is there OT that can teach this to children? And if so, what do they do? What are strategies that we can use to get him to sit still even when he is not engaged in the activity? He does really well for his favourite classes/teachers and can complete tasks and sit with full attention… only when he is bored (e.g. chinese…)
