CSJ's wife has to defend her husband. Leopard will never change its spots.

yeah.. mebbe.

but just wondering.. why.. a highly educated man, with high paying job.. \"misbehave\" himself and reacted so strongly on \"where is the money\"....? What caused him to lose himself....? did he.. suspect something (no hard proof, but sufficiently convinces him)..?

I don't understand..

but maybe bcoz I'm not highly educated that why I cannot understand.. I also cannot understand why it takes 56 man years to calculate some numbers.. I also cannot understand why EP are denied some info about the reserves.. maybe pple with a doctorate like CSJ can understand..? Or mebbe he also has no answers..?

There is no doubt that Chee is a complicated man. The Force is strong in him and it is not clear whether he has emerged from the dark side.
But look at him objectively, the personal hardship he has had to endure. Jabba believes he has paid his dues.
Approach him with an open mind although Jabba also thinks there's lots of style so far but substance is unclear.

May the Force be with You.

Skipping PSLE will not work...especially for those primary schools which have no affiliated secondary school. How will higher ability kids get a chance to enter elite ones like NYGH or RI if they have no results to base on? Of course there will be no stress at P6...but if kids fail O level, they have no cert at all.

What's the use of a PSLE cert?
Anyway, if I were the gahman, I will let WP explain their proposal and see how to fit it into the current system. Of course WP will try to get credit for the idea but PAP can also claim that they are good listeners.
Hmm...maybe this is why Jabba is gangster not minister.. šŸ˜„
For one thing, Fengshan, which was originally part of East Coast in 2011, has been amputated from the GRC after electoral boundaries were redrawn. WP is said to have scored the highest in Fengshan in 2011, causing analysts to say its carving out was a way of saving East Coast from falling to the WP. The other wards - Siglap, Bedok, Simei and Chai Chee - did not do as well as Fengshan, said party sources. Without Fengshan, the estimate is that WP probably got about between 42 per cent and 43 per cent of the vote.

ESM Goh said that voters should think long term. I don't know how long his horizon is when he said \"long term\". But I worry for the long-term when things like this are taken as normal and acceptable. And the PAP and their supporters have the cheek to blindly repeat the mantra \"integrity\".

I ask myself what effective safeguards (as opposed to being merely on paper) there are in Singapore if one day the US$700m 'donation' fiasco up north were to happen here. The answer I got was none. Despite 50 years of nation building, we have yet to build up an institutional culture in our civil service and government machinery that has the gumption to stand up and say \"no, this is wrong\" to political office holders when they cross the line. This is scary.

It is precisely because I am thinking long term that I have to vote WP this election, notwithstanding that it may result in short term pain.

Think long term! I want to retire!!

I think you've mistaken Tatooine for Mumbai......

..

3B.. althou you are highly experienced in reading WoT.... you might have mis-read Jabba's post..

He says he has been to India.

Tatooine is Jabba's homeland.. He doesn't \"visit\" Tatooine.
Let's put it this way la: I feel like I am visiting another country when I \"visit\" certain parts of Marina Bay, except that I don't have to pay $215.

Just because you won't go doesn't mean other people or companies won't go. There are many bilateral and multilateral deals that get inked that ties the G's hands with regards to businesse's and citizen's rights. Are you aware that some of the new property taxes applied to foreign buyers of property DO NOT apply to US citizens residing in Singapore? You want the G to go cancel the FTA with the US?

I hv no issue with FTA with the US.

There are dozens of bilateral deals, each with their own pros and cons but you can't look at them in isolation and ignore how they hang together. A big part of the strategy for this little red dot is to be a nexus for the big powers. Perhaps the FTA with the US could not have been struck if we did not have an impending deal/deal with India? Perhaps the US views us as an important node on that basis and was motivated to sign the FTA?

Can you at least try to look at the big picture?

Oh wait, that would cloud your judgement.....
3Boys: Yes, if there's no benefit to either party, the FTA will not be signed. In essence, FTAs are intended to remove barriers/obstacles/inefficiencies/transaction costs. The net outcome is that the overall pie will become bigger. But there is no free lunch - there will be winners and losers in the process, even though on an overall basis, there is net gain for both parties.
Take the CECA for instance. SBI has 16,000 branches in India. Giving Singapore banks 25-30 branches is immaterial to the Indian market, but 25-30 branches of SBI in Singapore is a big difference to the Singapore market. At the macro level, both countries gain but at the micro level, it is not so simple. And because it is not so simple, and Singaporeans' livelihoods are involved, the Gahmen needs to execute its policies with more finesse.
In Jabba's opinion, this is what disgruntled voters are trying to signal.

May the Force be with You.

May the Force be with Everyone....it has become a well-known fact that we have no survival skills/instinct.

One known company fail................we retract
One city of rape...........................we retract
One female colleague experience....we retract

I know what....I will suggest to the government that we build a satellite safe town in one part of India like a mini Singapore as part of the CECA renewal terms to emulate our Singapore town with our own police security etc etc.... Since the Indians love our LKY so much, this could work. šŸ˜‰

Aiyo, your maths ok or not. No = all. How to be only one?

to me, the exact numbers are not important..what is important is, being one of those unemployed..
how would u feel ??

easy way out..tell us be realistic..take pay cut..but many cases, willing take pay cut
Middle class are the worst hit..not poor enough to get help..not rich enough to absorb high-living costs..

haiz...tell me how should I feel??

Totally understand what you been through.

Except for my dad, all the males in my family had been through retrenchment.

My brother been through retrenchment in 2008 while my hubby in 2014.
My youngest brother is still searching for a job now.

Indeed stressful. Especially in Singapore with such high cost of living. Can't exactly self sustain by growing vegetables along the corridor right?

During unemployment, I believe most job seekers are realistic. Less income is still better than zero income wah. So I don't understand why gahmen keep saying Singaporeans are picky.

Cool hi: i understand because i no job before twice. Gahmen will only tell you to upgrade. Talk only. I U grad upgrade to what? MBA ha? Gahmen pay me to go Harvard ha? They all theory kings. Except for GY n LHH, no minister been unemployed before n even for these two, they got helicopter in to another job.
No easy solution. Try this: everyday you just have to think what is there to do, what job can try, etc. Most important, never despair. Just try n try. Employers r very funny. If you got no job, they dont want you. When you got job, everyone wants you. So the trick is to try whatever way possible to get a job. No job, no market value. Got job, suddenly your market value shoot up.
Another way is to spend some money, get a post box, register a sole proprietorship or $2 company n give yourself a job title like consultant or whatever. But dont call yourself CEO la, otherwise people ask you for job instead.
