Can any Seniors with 13-inch MacBook please help to feedback if you do all your work entirely on your laptop or do you switch to your home PC and link it to your laptop somehow?

      Merry Christmas To ALL!
      Have A Blessed New Year!

hi šŸ˜„ I have a 13-inch MacBook Pro and I do all my work entirely on this laptop šŸ™‚ it is very reliable and as long as you don't overheat it like I did once, it works perfectly well. But do remember not to leave it on sleep mode for too long!

I would suggest getting a 13-inch MBP since although it is a little on the heavier side, it is very convenient (my friend burnt a disc for her 3rd language project using the MBP on the day it was due) and you don't need to transfer anything over to another computer - there's enough storage. šŸ˜„

not saying that you should do last minute work though xD

      mummy so kiasu:
Hi, how much is the average pocket money in Sec one?

Would really appreciate input cos i have no idea how much to give my DS (who is a big eater)
      thanks in advance

A kid from CHS gets $6-10 for pocket money, excluding transportation (ez link )

      $6-10 per day? So much?!
I'm a Secondary 1 this year... and I get $4 per break (which makes $8 per day since I stay back everyday). I find it quite sufficient since there is just enough for me to buy necessary stationery in addition to having enough for recess and lunch. I would recommend around $3.50 to $4 per break - it's just the right amount for me.

      Miracle Child:
Yes, a lot of files. I have more files than textbooks on the shelf now. Really got to teach DS filing system...he is the kind who is disorganised.

Any parent can advise whether we should be getting pockets for the files for organisation purpose? What is the best organisation method? What should we prepare or take note of for filing?

      Thanks.

Hi, I'm not a parent, but a student in Secondary 1 (Sec 2 next year). I was in the GEP programme, and I must agree... Organisation is the key to proper filing.

What I suggest is this: get a ring file of considerable size and dividers (preferably those 12 ones so you can file better) and file according to every subject, with the first and second divider titled \"forms\" and \"homework\".

One bad thing about this is that you would need to bring a hole puncher along everyday. If your son is someone who does not mind filing at school, this is a great method to ensure good filing. Every night, take out the worksheets that need to be filed from the main ring file and file them into respective subject files. Leave those that the teacher needs to go through in the main ring file under the subject.

I find this method particularly useful - this is the only method that stayed with me throughout the years. I tried pockets for filing yet I always seem to do last-minute filing and spend loads of time punching the holes in the worksheets... It's not a very effective method for me.

Anyways, this is my personal preference. Hope you find my method useful šŸ˜„

:thankyou: :thankyou:also, when will we know our class numbers?

On the first day of school, there will be a large board in the foyer with everybody's name and classes šŸ™‚ (there was at least for our year) PSLs and ClassICs will have the name lists in advance though, and last year I think the list was posted on the forum for the benefit of curious juniors, but it was taken down for privacy reasons. I don't think it will (and it shouldn't) be posted this year on the forum, though you can ask PSL / SLs you know and they may have the list šŸ™‚

Meanwhile, my batch (the to-be Sec 3s) is also waiting for our next-year classes. They should've been finalized quite some time ago but I'm not sure why they don't wanna release it to us till the 31st 🤷

Thank you very much :thankyou: a child. šŸ˜„ šŸ˜„ šŸ˜„
By the way, how do you know who are the PSL / SLs ?
This will be quite complicated, since RGS changed their selection of SLs just recently: this year.

As of this year, PSLs have a badge while prefects wear ties with their blouse (they won't be wearing the pinafore). Prefects in training (PITs) will wear ties and a badge. However, as of this year, they changed the selection of SLs such that they select SLs first then select again at the end of Secondary 2. Most likely, these SLs will be wearing ties and pinafore, with a badge. It's quite easy to notice them, just look for the tie! šŸ™‚
