      Hi

So far my son likes NASCANS, he likes it that he has nap time (but after P1, there isnt) and that there are times he can play sports just at the covered sports area outside NASCANS. We like that it is in the school, so it is safer (dont have to cross the road).

There were some turnover of staff last year so it was not very organized then, but each time we had an issue and feedback to higher management, they were prompt and gave us assurance, other than helping to resolve issues.
I would say that so far I am quite satisfied. There is no extra tuition there, but they do cover the basic ie: revise spelling, guide on homework (you should still double check as the teacher might not have taught correctly- especially Chinese).
They have a permanent centre head now, with her, I do see that there is better organization and planning (I received the March school holiday programme now, without chasing and in advance. Improvements are always appreciated!)

      Psbeh:
      Hi Jenlwx,

How's your son in NASCAN? Any reviews? I'm thinking to switch my son from Life Champs next year.

[quote=\"Psbeh\"]Hi. My son is in 1S1. He is attending Life Champs student care after school.

Hihi! So good to hear from another parent! How is your son settling in?

My son just transferred to NASCANS in school from life champs as he really feels tired and need to nap. Life champs does not allow nap time so it was a struggle for him šŸ˜ž

He is experiencing some anxiety and start to tell us that he does not want to go to school as teachers are rude (he said p2 teachers) and some kids are naughty (he has been teased by some boys over a pencil that has some doll prints). I think childcare quite protected, teachers caring and more play oriented so he is hving culture shock. Any tips to share on how to help him cope better would be appreciated. Hope I can know more parents here and maybe keep in touch and let kids be friends so that can help each other to settle down in school better and enjoy study and play together!

Hi, my DD will be in P1 next year. Glad to know there are other parents using this forum too.

Hello! So nice to finally hear from someone from the same school! My son will be in 1S2. How about your girl? Just wondering if you are placing her in student care? We have secured Life Champs opposite school but on waiting list for the one in school.

LSH@ tammpines method is learning through 1) projects and 2) story based (teachers read the story, expand on the topic and then do some art and craft or discussion based on it). There is no homework at all, even at K1 and K2. No spelling and Tingxie at all because they dont believe in drilling (they say) but they will have a builder's project like \"lizards\" in K1 and teacher teach them to write it in chinese (bi hu) and she expect the kid to know how to write after being taught (which i find very puzzling cos out of the blue they have to just write some difficult words and be labelled slow learner if he cannot write after that week). I personally find that there is lack of proper academic structure, so the kids are not academically prepared (they only teach basic han yu pin yin later half of the year in K2, time, money as well). We have friends who pull out after some time (2 kids each,1 in K1 and Didi in N1, the other one N2 and K1) because they simply think it is not good for the kids academically. They say they do teach phonics but they do it like: play a game, identify all the words ending with \"at\" (at end K1). It is not systematic approach to teach the sounds of each letter, then blending etc. So, my son only started to be able to read at end K1 after going to enrichment class (makes us wonder why we spend so much and also the long hours in the childcare).

Hi. Did you register your kid in ESP to start P1 next year? I have just registered and not sure why this thread is so super quiet. I need some feedback regarding the school as well.

Hi. My son has been there (LSH@Tsmpines Junction) since Sep 2011 (PG) and graduating soon. I am very happy with the loving and caring nature of the teachers esecially the PG, N1, N2 teachers. I dont have to worry about accidents as the Principal Ms Pam is very on the ball and firm with the teachers to ensure the kids are well- cared for and any accidents are reported promptly to the parents. SHe is very responsible too. She impressed me because she knows every parents' name and face and attempts to problem solve issues that are brought to her attention 😃

However, the down side is that they dont give worksheets/ home work even at K1/K2 level and most projects are art related (like make a family tree, make a building out of recycled materials, show and tell of an important person in Singapore history). You wont really know how well your kid is doing and most of the time, the teachers dont share much in this aspect. So, be prepared that you might have to give your kid enrichment class outside (especially if the rest of his classmates goes for tuition since young and the teachers think you should be doing more as it appears to them that your kid is slower and the other kids are geniuses!). It depends on the teachers your kid get assgined to actually. In summary, if you just want your kids to enjoy (centre is big, bright and clean) and you be worry free on safety aspect (child friendly and responsible Principal), I would recommend LSH. For academic wise, especially with the price- tag (it is about $990 after working mum subsidy now), I would not.

Any latest feedbacks or reviews or even info on LSH @ tampines? Thinking of registering my lo there. Went for their open house and the environment looks good and my lo enjoyed playing at the playground. But too sure abt the teachers and management. Any comments will be welcomed! TIA!
