The grade boundaries for all subjects seem to be raised compared to past 3 years. Based on the above article, \"there is a marked increase in performance over the period of 2020-2022, reflecting the more generous marking schemes employed to account for the disruption experienced over the pandemic.\" This year 2023, the marking schemes have reverted to pre-Covid levels.
\"As with the approach taken in the May 2023 session, the IB will again set the distribution of awarded grades to the pre-pandemic levels of November 2019.\"

To achieve \"at least 6 Distinctions\" is more difficult than 90 RP.
The school's website mentions that 'Achieved >= 6 Distinctions' is 2 in 10....
So... >= 6 Distinction = 90 RP? If so.. funny why that school dun quote '90RP' which is understood by most as perfect score.
90 RP is computed from exactly 6 distinctions (distinctions in GP, Project work, and either 4H2 subjects or 3H2+1H1).
On the other hand, students with more than 6 distinctions achieved the additional distinctions in the more difficult/advanced H3 Papers (in my time many years ago, they were called S-Papers). As far as I know, H3 subjects do not count towards rank point calculation, but some students take it for interest, or to improve chances for scholarship or admission to (certain) overseas universities. -

Class 2022, the 5th graduation batch of baby Eunioa,
Isabelle Looi clinched the prestigious PSC (Legal Service) scholarship. There is a sharing on how apart from achieving good academic results, Isabelle was also active in her CCA and other community work.
She was the President of EJC debate team and a volunteer at Meet The People session. Congratulations.

Last year, P mentioned that EJC produced 9 PSC scholars for Class 2020 (3rd graduation batch). 1 of whom did not get perfect UAS. P assured parents/students that there is no need to get perfect score, just do your best. Not sure in class 2021 and 2022 batches, how many PSC scholars though.
So happy for EJC and Isabelle! Rooting for all EJCians! :rahrah: 加油! -

Thanks for compiling! Based on the what is posted on Reddit (and on Dunman High's website), it should be median 84, and not mean 84.

As far as I know, you can buy the uniform online only during the annual textbook order period in Nov-Dec from Popular bookstore at textbook.popular.com.sg.
Hi, can we buy uniform via online? And who’s the supplier for hci school uniform? I Can’t find any information fromSchool Website. Thank you.
Otherwise, you have to make a trip down to the Popular Bookstore in HCI canteen to buy the uniform. You can ask your boy to buy directly from the bookstore. The bookstore contact number printed in the booklist is 6469 3617. -

You are right. And it shows in the IGP for IT-related courses, like Computer Science. It is my belief that most people will gravitate towards courses that lead to a career with a very good pay-check.
There are many areas of Engineering, and some are more in demand than others. IT-related seems to be the top now. -

Most probably. There is also the option of hiring engineers from overseas who are willing to take a lower pay than Singaporean engineering grads.
Why are salaries not high in Engineering industry? Too many Engineers around? -

Probably because Engineering is a very tough course to do, and the salary in the Engineering industry is not high and remains stagnant after a few years.
These are the links to NUS and NTU indicative grade profiles for AY21/22 intake.

CCC or CCD can get you into some of the Engineering, Science and Arts courses. Even if you can't adjust to IP, I don't think CCC is a stretch too far.
On a side note, my goodness me, how much has Engineering fallen???? It used to be the creme-de-la-creme that goes to Engineering, while the borderline get sent to Computing. Now it is totally reversed. You can think and do IT jobs with Engineering training, but you can't think like an Engineer with Computing! Computing can be self-learned, Engineering you can't. -
RE: Integrated Programme (IP)
Hi,
Seeking reviews of Future Academy IP Math Tuition from experienced parents here.
Are the teachers good? Based on personal experience, some tuition centres change teachers without telling parents, especially when they are replacing a more experienced or popular teacher with a trainee teacher. Does Future Academy do that? For example, have you ever signed your DC up for a class initially taught by Ms Chen or Mr Lau, and halfway through the year, the centre changed the teacher?
Grateful for any advice or experience before I sign up with them. Thanks so much.
