Understand that 1Q do not take higher MT. There are also not too many high scorer in the gepers. If there are, they are put there for special programs like science or maths. There are one or two classes specified for the special programs. One of my DS primary school classmates who score 270 and above was not team with the GEP.
This is not necessarily true. I have a friend who is in 1Q and takes HCL and scored 265

    • RE: Raffles Institution (Year 1-4)

Hi parents of Rafflesians! I am a new year 1 and I am in 1M. Just to give an idea, I noticed that almost all the people in 1M are very good in Mathematics (as in the olympiad kind). Four of the six students who represented Singapore in maths in the International Maths and Science Olympiad held in Jakarta are in 1M. Also, 1A is for all the sports DSA applicants. 1Q consists of people who are good in music and art. There is a mix of GEPers and non-GEPers in classes I-Q.

    • RE: What is IVP

Hi! I took part in the primary school IVP (same thing as the sec one, just diff category). IVP can be very fun, basically you just need to make an innovation, which is an improvement to something to make it more user-friendly, etc. But for IVP you need the time and the ‘infrastructure’ because u need to build the prototype of your ‘innovation’. Like for me I need to consult friends to help get custom-built stuff.

No big deal. Some parents just love to complain. Last yr, complain Math paper too difficult. This yr, complain Math paper too easy!

Totally agree that if it's a newspaper article, what's wrong if pupils have seen the passage? My dd, who did psle this yr, has not seen it but we're perfectly fine with this. Makes no difference to us.
But you see, we kids think differently from adults. And also, if Maths is hard, the pro ones will cheer (so T-score will pull them up). If Maths is easy, the not so pro ones will cheer. So either way some would complain while others will cheer. 😄
