      Hi Happyvon

It’s not that I am firmed on trying OEPS, but I just didn’t want to go through the agony and disappointment of balloting again. It’s very tormenting even till now. To date, I am still as teary as I am on the 1st day of balloting out. To me what’s left are schools which I think are not academically popular and driven. They are really not in my list at all. Since they are not even in my list at all, it really doesn’t matter too much whether it’s Bedok Green or OEPS.

I will just stick to OEPS and then change school along the way. What I want is a good school preferably SAP school near my mum’s place. Because I have planned enrichment programs for him right after school and my father has been the faithful chauffeur to bring him around. I really want to make it easier for my father and kid.

My son goes for enrichment programs since the age of 3. So he shall just continue it the way it has been.

I know that there is one school which is considerably not bad among what is left in phase 2c supp is Bukit Timah Primary. This school is usually not the priority until all the rest of the schools in Bukit Timah are snapped out. But if you compare academic results of Bukit Timah and OEPS, Bukit Timah is much better. But are you willing to put your child through the long journey? Initially, I thought of trying Bukit Timah but thinking of my kid going though the hassle, I decide not to.

Whatever that you are concerned, I am equally concerned. I am really wondering the low takeup rate. Is it because there is no mass due to the fact that the people staying in the community lived there a long time and not so many kids? Also, I am concerned with the quality and commitment of the teachers there. Will my son be in good hands? I am also looking out for reviews from people around. I have in fact gone round to the estate to ask passer bys and people staying there asking them about the school. General feedback is that the school is good. Teachers from the school are vibrant and innovative. But again, I am still not convinced because I believe in results. So I think I will just register my son inside the school first and then ask for transfer whenever possible. I can’t think of anything else for now except this route. Sigh and stress…

      Hi

1st time posting here. My son is balloted out from Kong Hwa yesterday. I feel so devastated and heart breaking. Cried the whole day yesterday and even now.

I am also considering placing my son in OEPS. I personally don’t have many good opinions of OEPS but I am not sure if it is due to my judgemental opinions and biasedness.

I really wonder why this school has such low takeup rate. I personally don’t think it’s the inaccessibility because I stayed there so I know it’s not. Are there really good teachers in OEPS who will groom the children? I would really hope to see teachers putting in the extra effort to come up with challenging questions and work for bright kids to groom them to their potential instead of just following what are in the textbooks.
