Hi parent2008,
Confirmed Offer means as long as you accept their offer, the seat already guaranteed for u, hence no need to take part in S1 posting anymore, post PSLE results announcement.
When a school offer your child a CO, is a matter of whether u want to accept, or decline the offer.
Wait list : nothing is been guaranteed
Waitlist depend on 2 situation, whether can get converted into CO, or not -
1)
whether anyone from inside the \"Confirmed Offer\" list not interested in taking up the offer, gave up the offer.
AND
2)
by your own internal ranking, within the \"Waitlist\" itself, assigned by DSA school.
You will never know what's your own ranking, because school will never tell (disclose) u.
You won't know whether you are somewhere, at the Top / bottom / middle, of the \"Waitlist\"
Eg
Say, there are two p6 students (X and Y) inside Wait list, for Nanyang Girls High (NYGH)
Example
a)
Student X :
Wait list, for Bilingualism academic domain (NYGH)
Suppose X is Ranked right at the Top of the Wait list.
Suppose, one student from the Confirmed list (CO) list, decided to turn down NYGH CO, accept CO from some other school instead.
What happen, now ?
Student X is lucky.
Since she is ranked #1 within the Waitlist, her Waitlist now gets converted into CO successfully, hence X is allocated a seat inside NYGH, so she is not allowed to take part in S1 posting anymore.
b)
Student Y,
another Waitlist for say, Science domain. Suppose she is ranked right at the bottom of the Waitlist
So, Y must wait patiently for everyone else before her,one by one, inside the Waitlist to get converted into CO first, before her turn come. Most likely, her chance never come, unable to convert, not successful, in the end still rely on her own PSLE T-score to enter, based on those 6 Secondary school choices she made, during S1 posting
S1 posting (abbreviation) : Secondary 1 posting
Just to say that the CO is only confirmed IF your child meets the respective stream criteria set by the school or MOE. If your DSA school only offers Special/Express but your child's score qualifies for Normal Academic then he/she will have to re-join the S1 Posting Exercise.
In all, we gotta remind our children that they still need to work hard to get better/maintain results to make sure they can go to their DSA school :rahrah: Jiayou all!
