    • RE: All About Violin Classes and Teachers

Hi, any recommendations for good violin teachers (Suzuki syllabus) who are experienced with young kids (3-4 year old)? Kiddo’s dream is to concertise so I’m looking for a teacher that can help him achieve his dreams.

Yes, my DS read scores. Happy farmer although short, its repetitive and my kiddo gets confuse at subtle the changes. But yes, I will try your suggestion to segment the song up for him.

Is it crucial for him to play by memory?

Hi, I have a son who has just turned 3 playing the violin with one of the acclaimed violin school/teacher in Singapore. At the moment, he is at the last 2 songs of Suzuki book 1 but is held back by his teacher because he cannot memorise the music score. He plays perfectly with the score.

The teacher drills him on memory skills at every lesson for the past 2 months on these 2 songs and doesn’t let him move on to Book 2. His moral is now low and cries badly if he makes the slightest mistakes during a class performance. The mummy in me is heartbroken for him because he genuinely loves playing the violin and practices hard every day.
