Thanks Champion for your support. Corporation is the usual fallback for parents trying for Rulang, and because Rulang is so hot this year, many people wised up and booked into Corporation in Phase 2C instead. That would have been the smart thing to do. I suspect Corporation will be quite heavily oversubscribed this time in Phase 2C(S). It has never required balloting in Phase 2C(S) under 1km, but then again, its Phase 2C TUR has never been as high as it is this year (89%). Last year, when the TUR was 79%, balloting was required for SC between 1-2km.

Boon Lay Gardens is the sure thing. So my recommendation would be to monitor Corporation to see if those <1km would require balloting, and if so, then simply book into Boon Lay Gardens.

BTW... is Xingnan within 1km for your friend? If so, that's another school she can consider.

Chief :salute: Thanks for the advice; appreciates much. Think Xingnan is out of the 1km range from our neighbourhood. I will share this information andlet DS's classmate parent decides then. 🙏 hope they need not go through another round of balloting - can feel their disappointment yesterday.

Corporation produced 270pts (thereabouts) calibre student recently , thats why its one of the top fallback school compared to others . If lived within 1km, i think its quite a safe bet for 2CS . But of course , just like wat chief mentioned, monitor carefully. Go n sit inside the school on 13aug, 3pm to monitor the take up rates . XingNan is next best, but chances are super slim if u r out of 2km. If u ask me, I would give up balloting for Corporation if more than 28pax applied for SC <1km , i would go for Pioneer instead , not Boonlay Gdn.

ok, maybe i misunderstood your meaning , but your below sentence certainly sounded like a School Rule :
pls do not bring your kid, into the balloting premises.
only husband & wife go in.
( i see some brought ah ma ah kong to pray together inside as well )

By the way , if not balloted ,its not the kids that will cry, its the parents.
If they feel do feel a little sad, a ice cream treat will solve the problem. Yes, poor
fast heart pounding disappointed parents will suffer sleepless night...I failed before too, i know

      Sorry to you, matrocks
I must apologize, for the misunderstanding, created.
Once again, i said Sorry for the confusion.

      Cheers mate.

To all parents balloting this wed , i hope yall already have a plan B , it helps if balloting failed, u wont feel so devastated. But of course , i wish all best of luck !

Im allowed to bring my kids into CHIJ ST NIC during 2B ballotings though...

Then, I must say u are a very brave parent, because before that, u wont know what is the balloting outcome going to turn out like

I presume your dd got balloted into St Nicholas, at 2B
      Congratulations

but what if other kid go into balloting premises, witness the balloting process herself, cried on the spot, because fail to ballot in and the kid herself also very anxious ? Would it have upset the disappointed parents, as well ? Prior to balloting commence, there's a lot of anxiety, tension built up over the past few days / weeks

Heard from quite a few parents before that it will bring luck if kids were to follow along,
and indeed that day ,all parents with kids got in....

By the way , if not balloted ,its not the kids that will cry, its the parents.

How do we know we kennah ballot?

school will contact u (either last Fri evening, or today /tomorrow), inform u to turn up for balloting this Wed, the venue, timing. Or u may call up the school yourself, find out.

this Wed : most parents will turn up balloting, on site.
Unless they really busy at work, can't take leave, maybe appoint a family relative to go on their behalf, or after balloting process over, school will call up the parent to inform them the news.

on Wed : be seated early, 15 minutes before balloting arise.
if u nervous, calm down, shut your eyes, listen to the ping pong number being rolled out of the cage, one by one.
As one ball roll out, the P1 officer will announce the ball number that had just rolled out, and call out the corresponding name of the pupil, tied to this particular ball number. Then, another officer standing in front of a white board, will pin up the name of this pupil balloted in, onto the white board.

eg: ping pong ball # 23 roll out, calling pupil Mok long long

pls do not bring your kid, into the balloting premises.
only husband & wife go in.
u won't want a child to ask, \"Mommy, why the school never call my name ? Or Mommy, why my ping pong ball never roll out ?\"

Im allowed to bring my kids into CHIJ ST NIC during 2B ballotings though...

      Busymom:

Just thinking aloud, would it be better if those within 1km has an earlier cutoff time, say 1 hour earlier than those beyond 1km? This is to prevent a case like ALPS from happening. If those parents within 1 km do their registration latest by 3.30pm, there is perhaps still enough time for the ones who are >1km to withdraw and register elsewhere. Or better still, since these parents have no chance to even ballot, can the system be improved such that their first registration would automatically be void, and the parents can directly go to the next school of choice to register without first having to withdraw from the first school?

I like busymom's idea of auto withdrawal. So that parents do not need to go to one sch to withdraw with original ICs n quickly just go to their back up sch. GE is coming , whoever is in Heng Swee Kiat's ward can go Jio Jio him when he pays u a house visit during GE campaigning. 😂

auto withdrawal is good idea but might backfire as there might be parents pulling out and made vacancies available...

MOE should have have a live SMS update system which inform no. of applicant for <1km/1-2km/>2km and also the percentage of their subscription. And not to forget live updates in their website . MOE are ones who setup these distance based system, so they should break down the numbers in LIVE for all applicants ,and not simply just no. of applicants .

Anyone who file in their P1 application , will automatically receive such live updates from MOE.
In this way, no one can complain " They dont know " .
Just like all NSmen recall manning system .( of course no need LIVE TV and RADIO alert la…lol)

Once their subscription hits 101% ( which mean balloting to occur) they will receive a SMS warning that they are NOT allow to withdraw after 3 pm on the last day. ( i suppose 1.5hours is enough for parents to execute their plan B irregardless of Rain or Shine ? ) By than, It is their choice to put down the chips or not, if they refuse to withdraw, than they have to face the consequences of more applicants flowing in
and pray to god. These peeps are already Parents who are logical enough to weigh their pros n cons. If they choose to withdraw , they could do it via online with both mum and dad Singpass verification, no need rush down school to bother those already busy admin staffs.

Secondly, people who lives within 1 km ,are only allowed to register and withdraw in the 1st and 2nd day, they cannot do anything in the last day.
These peeps already have the ULTIMATE priority, they should have already made up their mind on their school of choice, and not abuse this priority by being fickle minded and registering last min.

      just my 2 cents
