Just sharing - Montfort Junior School (MJS) has always had an emphasis on technological knowhow and active group experiences.

The P1 to P6 technology program is still ongoing in the school and it exposes the pupils to computational thinking and digital making and introduce them to the world of coding.

      Hi fellow parents,

My son received the Edusave Learning Achievement cert for P1 and together with that the busary form. Our income exceeds the minimum, so not eligible for bursary award, but I want to know if my son will still be called for the ceremony to hand out the certificate? Any parents has similar experience before ?
Did you receive the letter with MOE and PA letterhead? Depending on your Constituency Office (whether they hold such ceremony). If the CO does, there will be award ceremony sometime end Q1/start Q2 next year for the student whose family who exceeds Income threshold. Student will get another nice certificate from the MP on stage and will get some vouchers instead. Last year, we got $80 popular vouchers.

      Congrats!
Did you receive the letter or did you call in?
I received during mid December last year.
I’ve not received the letter this year.
Thanks! I called up yesterday morning to check and got the good news. After seeing one parent said her friend received the letter, i went to check letter box last night and saw the letter. Last year, we received it beginning of Dec too.

Hi, have you all received the certificate from MOE? Actually I was not that concerned last year about this certificate and recognition. It came as a surprise that my child got the learning achievement certificate for P1. And this year, I cannot hide that I am hopeful that he wins it too.

Hello, I’m back. Almost two years in, my boy is still enjoying his school life. I don’t have issues with the school. My boy is doing well in school, he said he understood what the teachers are teaching which is very important in my view. My boy has grown to be a more sensible and responsible boy - credits to the teachers.

The school has changed principal since last year but I have not seen any significant changes or impact yet. I don’t see new P around as often as the ex P though. In the past, we will still see the ex principal waving at the gate sometimes before/after the school.

The school has lesser social media exposures nowadays, not sure is it due to the change of principal or school directives. I was hoping to see more positive medias/articles of the school to make us and prospective parents have feel good effects that our boys are studying in the school.

The boys are split into new classes next year. From what I see, it’s also happening to other schools too, so I think it’s a common move.

      Will update again next year.

Hello Desmond, it remains a good choice for me. I hope you have already registered your son!

My boy continues to be happy and he is more responsible now. He checks timetable, pack his bag and prepare his uniform or PE attire for next day.

Teachers will at times challenge the boys and acknowledge their good works with encouraging comments/ink stamps/erasers/little gifts and post on see saw.

Boys are assigned roles (team leaders, subject leaders, class monitors etc) and assist teachers with administrative duties and also took on mentor roles to guide weaker students. My boy is a subject leader and he told me he has been tasked to guide and it’s not an easy task but he enjoys it.

For those in phase 2cs and staying nearby, I think you can just make the choice.

I personally think building good character, personality and social skills are more important than just academic.

The school in my view is good in these aspects. Hope it can meet your expectations! Good luck and all the best!
