The principle and teachers distribute the notice at gathering and told them they will go to other school if passed round 2. Some students signed and some are happy when they knew they will move to other schools after next round. The principle told them how many passed.the teacher walked to the students and give the letters to the hand. My daughter only can see those students in front of her. I like this school

Pei Hwa has distributed all letters to those p3 students who have passed round 1 on last Friday?
      :thankyou:

I cant help but feel that non-GEP schools may feel sad that some of these students may leave them in the end....

From what I understand, my DD shared some questions with me last year,

I 'deduce' General Ability is logical reasoning type of paper.
      Includes IQ and logic questions.
Suppose that is meant for me. That will do.

A little embarrassed how clueless I really am.

      Thanks much, Ginger!!

Pardon me. General Ability? What is it like? General Knowledge kind of things?

      Dear Parents,

Glad i found this thread. Hope I can get some answers with regards to this supposed GEP test thingy.

My DS just switched to a new school not long ago. Yesterday our neighbour kids, his ex classmates, informed me that DS was 1 of the few in the class selected for test 2 or something. I checked with DS and he did remember taking some kind of Maths/IQ/English tests while still in his old school.

I read here about parents receiving a letter? I did not receive any black and white nor was I contacted by his old school, or the new school, for that matter.

Would like to know if I should be expecting this letter in the mailbox? Or i should contact the schools, in his case?

Suggest u give a buzz to both schs. They should have the results.
If not, reach out to GEB directly.

    • RE: All About Choosing and Buying Pianos

I have only been looking around in town and in the west coz it is nearer for me.

Use the una corda for playing later in the night. Or get a newer piano with silent function.

Yah piano prices are tightly controlled by Kawai's authorised dealer. Even my wife could not squeeze another cent off the list price. šŸ˜„

Well, do keep your mind opened and look around 2nd hands too. esp if you are not in a rush to get the piano. I have been around a few 2nd hand dealers and was very comfortable with the one in IMM, PG. They have a good range of Jap models, mostly Yamahas and Kawais. There are gems among the crowd if you carefully look, rarer jap domestic models in great conditions, great feels, beautiful tones. I was back there just on Sunday to look at a k55.....hmm...hope to get the approval from my wife (over the K3). :rahrah:

      Hi Merclim,

I've tried Robert Piano at Parkway Parade and they told me the same price, emphasizing that this is the special GSS sales price, normally 10k and next month it might go up. Since Robert is the sole distributor for Kawai in Singapore, I guess the price is probably \"official\".

I've yet to try out the 2nd hand pianos but would love to. Only concern is finding a good shop. I did try to read this long thread but still need to time to digest.

      Thanks for your advices šŸ™‚

      Smakul,

I have been looking at the K3 for my 2 kids too. The one I tried playing was at Robert Piano (centerpoint) and the listed price was about $8.3k+. The sales lady is Jessie, I believe.

I do play quite a bit myself on a Kawai grand and have developed some Kawai likings over the years. They are a tad heavier than the Yamahas but are very precise and clear, good practise pianos in general. The K3 upright definitely felt heavier than a U1 and has good overall dynamics and imho, and will be a good starter piano for the kids. It is also cheaper. It will take them to grade 8 (and even Dip, if you wanna push).

I am at the same time also considering some 2nd hand Jap imports like the K55 (pre-10 years) or the U3A (20+ years). Younger K55s should see the kids to Dip. piano pretty much. The U3 are older but are lovely, reallylovely to listen to.

      Have fun piano-shopping. šŸ™‚
