phtthp:AMK branch -nana-chan:
My p4 jus started 1 lesson at amk. Quite pleased w teacher n material but hmwk
Thank you!
WLC AMK do not have CC/2hrs class on Saturday.
For 3hr class, not sure is it too tiring and stressing for P1?
Their 2 hour class : for zuowen only.
They conduct either 2 hr zuowen, or 3 hr classes (combined Paper 1 + 2)
AMK side does not conduct 2 hr paper 2 (geng zhe ke wen zou, follow MOE Chinese syllabus), due to not enough classroom.
So, if your child need just pure 2 hr paper 2, without zuowen :
can go to either katong (Eastgate), or Bukit timah branch.
For your child in P1 :
if u not sure whether the child can take 3 hr or not, perhaps try out 1 Term first. At the end of one Term trial, based on feedback from your own child, u will know. If really cannot, come Term 2, can switch child over to pure zuowen (2 hr) class. Wang Ls do conduct P1 zuowen classes. They start from young, slowly build up, as they move onto P2.
There are students in P4, like this. At Beginning : they signed up for 3 hr lesson. Some just can't take it. After one Term, they find it tiring & taxing to absorb in class. They prefer shorter 2 hr class instead, to absorb & learn better, sink in. Every child differ.
Subsequently, come next new Term, they then switch over to the pure 2 hr zuowen class.
Many students tend to focus on zuowen (Paper 1) more : because zuowen is harder, the higher level u go up. Up to P4, zuowen exam is upon 20 marks. Come upper primary (P5 and P6), zuowen exam become upon 40 marks. For Paper 2, u can still study on your own, with the help of assessment books purchased.
P4 zuowen at Wang, is tough. A lot of phrases to remember. If your child do due diligence every week, can see learning progress. But if every week don't revise good phrases, just go there week after week merely to copy relevant snippet portion of good phrases here & there, to submit to Tr to mark zuowen in class, but didn't revise at home, then it doesn't help much. Everything boils down to one key thing : is your child consistent or not, in revision of hao ci hao ju ? If yes, consistent, u will see progress made. Otherwise, very little. I suppose is the same, whichever tuition centre you send your kid to.
Thank you for your advise and I will probably try ur suggestion. Need to helpchim with oral and compo.
