      Hi,

a friend of mine has recently been called up for interview for IP program in A sch. Child in top 3 classes, in school team but have never played in any competition as he’s a reserved player but still offered a DSA. I do nôt know if they declared this fact. It’s like jackpot and happy for my friend but honestly, it’s not fair for others. If she’s not my friend, I may think otherwise and seriously there may be other people more deserving than him? The transparency really needs to be reviewed and I agreed that grooming special talent needs $$$ at the expense of the parents and DSA is never fair and should never be considered at all … just because of minority KS voices, the gahmen is removing meritocracy? one should only enters TOP school by OWN effort and merit, not behind closed doors! if your child has special talents in sports, go to sports sch and if your child has talents in arts, please go SOTA or NAFA.

      Hi,

Can anyone feedback on their children’s form teacher? stating the levels pls. How well the children fare depend very much on the teachers too. heard Aitong has very good teachers, then what about PCPS?

Mine worse! Child came back last week bugging me to buy cny clothes for the celebration this Fri as mentioned by teacher during assembly to put on cny clothings. I bought on Sun so that she will not be the odd one out. Then two days later when she came back, said mummy sorry, bad news… Asst level head said come in sch uniform or PE attire. Yesterday, form teacher asked if they will wear cny clothings as they would look nice on it and children replied her cannot and she said she will go talk to level head… Will know later when she comes home. What kind of communication is going on within the school teachers, i have no clues at all! I just know they got the children and parents really confused. Kudos to pcps!

With no information on how the child is actually doing compared to his peers and clueless of how the posting of P3 is actually done. One cant really help the child much. I understand from this forum most assumed the deciding factor is based on CCA but is this really so? so simple… I doubt so! It makes plain sense to group children of similar calibre together so as to ease teaching. It will then not be a waste of time to both the teachers and students. Some fast and some slower and hence repetition on a topic may drag longer than usual. If my child is slower, she may not want to ask or participate in class knowing that others already have good understanding of the topic and this will thus make her fall further away from her peers. Not so encouraging right?

Having said the above, we all know 5A and 6A are the best class for their levels but what about those in P3 and P4? If our children are not in the top 2 classes, we can then encourage and motivate them to work harder. This will then serves as a goal for them. I don’t expect pcps to label the last class but at least disclose the top 2 classss for each level. I know of schools who will review the students based on year end results so as to allow these children who worked hard, join the top 2 classes and those who have slacken will be transferred out. We definitely need to know where our childrenn stand, as we do not want to be too hard nor too relax on em. Another helpful point here, the top 25% cert that one received at the end of the year from our constituency, kind of telling us if they qualify to be in the top 2 classes of 80 children. Last but not least, all the above also only my 2 cents worth!
