My son was among the few selected to go for the han yu ping yin class on a fixed day every week as he was very bad in that. And coincidentally, that day he was supposed to do his chinese spelling test, and he had to skip it. Anyway, I still teach he the words for his knowledge.
On that particular day weeks ago, he was asked to go back to his normal chinese lesson, he was ready for the spelling but he did not bring along the spelling book, as we knew that he was not taking the spelling on the day.
The chinese teacher told him that he cannot take the spelling as he did not bring the book, and he will get zero for that (This is what my son told me and I believe in him). I can imaging how hurting the child can be and it will definately affect his confidence in future, that night, I wrote to the teacher asking for the reason for the sudden change in schedule. She did not even reply me until my wife called her a few days later, then she told my wife that the other teacher was on MC and she had to take back the class.
I felt that the teacher was totally not flexible at all even if there’s a valid reason, she’s just so stiff that she sees the child never bring the book, he’ll be barred from taking the spelling, but she did not realise that the child was not informed on the schedule change, with the valid reason, the child will at least be given a piece of paper to do the spelling, now the situation is showing that the teacher’s MC, will be the child’s fault.
