I send my son to Learning Lab.
they are one of the most well known premium tuition centre in singapore. But the price is steep at $350 just for kindergarten tution and itβs already august. But the materials is very colourful. My elder son did attend right brain training since 2years old, but not able to do well for primary 1, hence i decided to send my no.2 and no.3 to these courses before the school starts.

RE: Me Time!
starlight1968sg:
Saturday is almost over
I did nothing much except had an afternoon nap
Doing nothing is ME time?
I believe so. For me, ME time is something you do to relax and forget about the chaos around. For moms especially those who have younger kids, taking a nap comes just once in a blue moon so why not take advantage of it?

RE: Peiying Primary
Hi Parents,
any recommendation for tuition class near PeiYing? my neighbour was commenting about this tuition class at the RC nearest to PeiYing at blk 805 and she was raving great reviews about the class. According to her, most of her classmate in the tuition class improved by alot within afew months and one of them top the class despite being only average before joining.
I am skeptical about the tuition since it is an RC, where the tuition program might not be run professionally. but since its recommendation from my neighbour, I might give it a try. Anyone sends the child to the tution centre? any comments about the teachers etc? -
RE: All About Weiqi and Chess
qizai:
no no no.. and yes yes yes,
Weiqi is more complicated than chess, in terms of the trees of possibilities.smurf:
Weiqi is more fun I guess...it's not as simple as forming lines, but you need to place the 'qi' at a strategic place to eventually beat your opponent.

And there are many ways of playing weiqi whereas for chess, the movement is fixed.
But for a child, chess pieces look quite cute and varied, even though their movements are fixed.
:celebrate:
I manage to learn the game of weiqi in an hour. its really easy, just need to surround the seeds and i can capture it. It is really fun to start playing. Whereas for chess, I need to memorize every moves of the pieces, thus, i don't really like chess.
Although I only played Weiqi afew times, I heard that the strategy for weiqi can become very complex, and no computer program today could beat a low level professional.. -

RE: All About Weiqi and Chess
According to what i have heard, it appears that weiqi is very easy to take up the hobby. Whereas for Chess, the children needs to memorize the moves each pieces. Not too sure if this will affect kids interest?

RE: All About Right Brain Training
Hi, I have just spoken to a mummy who used to send her son to Shichida, the child now do quite ok in school, among the top 100. The results is good, but it appears to me that it is far from the outrageous results that Shichida claims.
Since the program is already almost 40 years, and already in Sg for 10++ years, I was wondering if there is any results to proof that the methods work? I have been searching around google but no luck.
Anyone with the answers? -
RE: keeping kids occupied at home
try building some projects with them. Iβve brought 2 huge 3D puzzles, gotten some projects book and gives them a chance to be creating something. I am quite surprise that they are rather focus than asking to play on the computer.
