      hi,

I am keen to enrol my son to HWS. I know that they offer higher chinese. if lets say my son cannot perform well in Higher Chinese. Can we drop it along the way?
Hi Jo, Children in HWS study HCL from P1 to P4. At the end of P4, they will be offered to take up HCL as an extra subject in P5 - this is dependant on overall results of at the end of P4. There are some requirements to be met when the sch decide to let them continue with HCL as an extra subject for PSLE. We opt out for my P5 girl as we would like her to improve on the 4 core subjects, doing HCL in P5 is much more challenging than in P1 to P4. We also seek advice from her FT and MT teacher before we do so, they are the best persons to offer advice based on your child's ability, apart from the parents. My #2 is in P1 this year, she does not have passion for Chinese itself, but surprisingly, she is coping very well. Teachers in HWS are passionate and make learning Chinese very fun. Being a SAP school, they also have alot of activities revolving around Chinese Culture and Traditions, which the kids also learnt and enjoy. Hope this helps!

Scrapbookmummy, perhaps you can look through her papers and see where are her weaknesses and perhaps you can start from there. I am not too sure by sending your child to tuition will help unless you do know which to target on. I self teach my children on all subjects. We spread out the subjects and focus components by components. Slowly and surely there are improvements.

Sometime by sending a child to tuition may not solve the problem totally. A good teacher is a deciding factor that can help your child. But is all about chance.
:celebrate: agreed with u and i started on the same footing. however, im starting to lose confidence in myself when i see her grades sliding away. now getting abit anxious am i getting her into trouble by my self-teach methods. nonetheless, will continue to monitor her even if we decided to \"óutsource\" 😉

      Dear Parents,

Glad I chanced upon this thread today. I’m a totally stressed out full-time working mom, with DD1 taking PSLE for the first time. I didnt remember I was this stressed out during my time…LOL

After reading the thread right from the beginning, I felt I’m so behind time with preparing for the PSLE. DD1 was extremely discouraged when her grades dropped drastically from As&Bs to 3F + 1B in P5 CA1. I almost went into panic mode (althou trying to put on a calm front so as not to stress her out). We started Science tuition at Casco and she improved from a F to B. I must say, that made her regained her confidence. I’m still coaching her on my own for other 3 subjects, but i could see her struggling with English - both papers.

I’m struggling if I should subscribe English tuition for her as that would mean more work, on top of her increased workload & CCA. We tried those short term school holiday creative writing program, but it doesn’t seem to help much, unless u keep on practicing it at home.

      any advice?

Hi, yes & thank u - i did visit the MOE website, but I couldn’t locate a programme that matches Rope Skipping; and wondering if any parents has children who were/are in rope skipping, thinking of the DSA route:)

dear existing parents - my daughter will be in P4 (2016) and she is in Rope Skipping. Would like to ask whether there is any DSA route for rope skipping? I can’t seem to find one. Maybe this question has been asked before. Appreciate some help:) Thanks!

Hi all, i sent my subscription to YSR direct, but using the discounted form from HWS. I have called the YSR folks and my girl received her copy last fRiday, with two same free complimentary copies (which I gave to my neighbour's kids). Thanks so much!
