May I know if it's now 1 year or 2 years before P1 registration if we want to sign up as parent volunteer for Canberra? Will it be difficult to join in? (heard that some schools even select parents based on what they can contribute)

And, how do we know when they open for parent volunteer to sign up? I checked the school's website but couldn't find such info.

We always hear about within 1km and 1-2km criteria.

Now I have this question: Canberra primary school is within 1km from my house, but almost at the border of the 1km (around 900m), and Wellington primary school is just next to my block. So, will my kid’s chance of balloting to Canberra be reduced because my house is almost hitting the 1km, and some more there’s already another school nearer?

When the school does the balloting, does the actual distance influence the chance of balloting? For example, will those kids staying 100m from school actually have higher chance compared to those staying 900m from school? Or will Canberra primary even reject my registration of balloting with them since there’s another school nearer to my house?

Anyone has this experience to share?
