Hi all, need some good advice here. My son is now in SGPS (st.gab) I placed him there mainly because I just want a decent and not too academically stressful school. Other reasons are religion and distance. He is now in P4, up to this point I can’t say SGPS is not academically drilling anymore. He was in the so call best class last year… this year he was placed in the elite class. Is something new in SGPS. Is like a GEP kinda programme for kids in this class. Lots of homework and drilling and on top of that, enrichment classes with tons of projects. Totally not what I was in for right from the start.
I have this strong urge to transfer him to SJIJ now. Thinking since we (the family) are aiming to let him go SJI eventually why not transfer him now with the benefit of affiliation in P6. My only concern is the distance. I am residing in the serangoon area, SGPS is definitely a more convenient choice. So may I ask for your opinion on this? Should I just stay in the comfort zone and pray hard he will score for his PSLE to go SJI? Or try transferring him now and go through the hassle of travelling further the next 2 years?
