Why dont look at nan chiau or maris stella?

He really likes AHS tho he doesn't mind NC as well. So just make the trip to ensure that we make a more informed decision

Hi - my daughter is currently learning pianio at a school, but i am thinking of moving her to private lessons in our own place so she has a single dedicated teacher throughout her learning journey. She is still at beginner stage, having started last year after she turned 8. Would appreciate if anyone who knows of private piano teachers in sengkang to PM me. Thanks!!

DS just had his CCA day. Does anyone actually here actually ‘prep’ their children for any particular CCA? If the CCA is new to the child (ie not one of those rotated through) but is something the child is interested in, how do they actually get into them?

My boy is interested in robotics - does anyone have any good recommendations for such programmes for beginners (8 yrs old) in or near sengkang? I am eyeing the longer camps - 4-5 days. the CC offers single day programmes, but i think it will be very much touch and go! Found programmes along the NEL though...

There's no banding at the end of P1, the P2s stick with their class. So if your dd is in 1-8 this year, she'll be in 2-8 next year.

Have a question for those with older kids. Do the P2s get their new classes from the end of this year, and do they have a chance to meet their new classmates before term starts next year??

I agree with Shoebutton that there's nothing wrong with having trainee teachers. in fact, they could be quite a breath of fresh air - given their recent entry (and fresh enthusiasm for the job!). I also see this as the school's way of a long-term solution to the problem. The intent of encouraging the practicum students to stay on is clear, and the good thing about that is that the new teacher is clear about the values and ethos of work at MTS from the start of career. Nothing to 'unlearn' from other environments.

Definitely, a plan like this to grow the permanent pool should still be complemented by curriculum execution practices that ensure continuity. I always assumed that this was in place. May I know if the experience of other mommies has been otherwise?

Totopug. Are you a MTS parent? Personally I feel the school is drowning in its own student intake. Guess is a little of 人在江湖身不由己. With the school expansion and perhaps moe directives?

Yep, I am a parent - my kids are in P1 and P2. Still relatively new so I guess I can't really comment on intake numbers and all. Perhaps because they are still in lower primary, I do not feel the stress that comes with pregnant/changing teachers. In fact, my son told me he likes his current teacher more than the one who went on maternity leave at the end of Term two, so it works out.

Ha I also just looked back at some of the posts on the matter. So far, I don't have the 'idle relief teacher' issue. But the kids always come back with animated tales whenever they have relief teachers, who sometimes share with them extra knowledge like science, outdoors, etc...It's actually quite fun to see them so excited!

Personally, I do not see anything wrong with student teachers running my children's class. Everyone learns from a start point, and who is to say that a student teacher has less passion or ability to excite the children?

Plus a student teacher who choose to stay on after practicum would had established good relations and culture awareness of the school. Much like hiring a good intern back into your company. Win-win for everyone.
This is defintely better than a fresh teacher graduate in his 1st work year who has zero contact with the school prior to this.

Key qn is more of:
1) Did NIE educate passionate and adequate teachers?
2) Does school that take in student teachers has the guiding and support framework & safety net to educate and develop these student teacher to be ready for independent class? :?: :imdrowning:
On that, I meant help to student teacher to thrive AND help to class students to make sure they stay on track.

Go for gardening. Don't know which day but it is in the afternoon.

might be a bit hard for me to commit to a day per week. Will probably volunteer for celebrations and outings!:) Hopefully will be able to get info when we go there on the first day!!
