    • RE: International school or local school?

I guess a lot of locals have the mindset and stereotyping that those kids that go to International school have results that are bad! Do check out the cut-off point for entry to these international schools, they are very decent too. Express stream results are required. So please don’t put these students down by saying they are all proud because they can afford to go to an international school.

    • RE: DSA 2014

Hi,I have read this yr DSA thread and now this new 2014 thread. Glad to see new info on SOTA and different COP being discussed. The previous thread concentrate very much on the geppers and well-known schs such as RI,RGS,NYGH etc. we have many schs in spore which are avail for DSA application. Each have their niches. Parents and their child shd go into the diff sch website to take a look. It doesn’t mean that the child need to be super smart to join the DSA selection. It will only lower the children self-esteem if it appears that everyone is only concerned abt whether u r going to an elite sec sch! Our minister Mr Heng has said that each child is unique in their own ways. Some children might not be great academically but might be a talented musician! Parents, pls shared application to the different sec sch avail thru DSA too. It will benefits more KSP who have child applying to the list if schs under DSA.

    • RE: Raffles Girls' Primary

Hi, have anyone check out the old RJC, holding site at Mt Sinai? My friend’s son was there last year for his PSLE. I was told that the toilets are dirty and they made the P6 take their PSLE in a container because they want them to be in an air conditioned environment. I am just wondering if they are going to do the same next year cos my girl will be taking her PSLE at the holding site. Was hoping that they could do better than using a container! My friend’s son said other than the air conditioned, he felt claustrophobic in such enclosed area.

Think they shd at least give the parents 2 days or so. After a long day of work, how to focus on the qns, answers and marks for all subjects! They are just afraid that parents will go to them for qns which they get dumbfounded and do not know how to answer!

Hihi, just want to check if everyone has gotten back their exam papers on 01/11/2012 and required rectification to be submitted before 1pm on 02/11/2012?

      I find that absolutely absurb!

You can write to MOM to see what other alternatives which employers can turned to. I managed to convince my FDW to work till she fully paid her loan that she owed me before sending her back. Imagine i have to tolerate her unwillingness to work snd constant unhappy faces and lies!

It seems that employers are not protected in Singapore. Take the recent example from the straits times. Maids running back to embassy and gives all sorts of excuses and lies just because they want to go back to Indonesia after giving a try as a domestic worker in Singapore. Isn’t this absurb!
Not being able to hang clothes outside the flats, then why architects of HDB design the laundry area as such?? We do not have so much land in Singapore as compared to Indonesia ( plenty but not use properly!!). Buy dryers?? Who will bear the cost?

    • RE: Runaway Maid: Pls take note.

So far my agency did not come back to me after I have given them the document to proved that the salary was paid. I do not want to send her back to the agency again as I know I’ll land another potential employer into trouble. Therefore after consulting my agency, I decided up pay for her air ticket and sent her home to Indonesia instead of letting her do the transfer. Did some calculation and realized that the amount of money I’ll incurred to have her transfer plus lodging while waiting to be selected might cost more than the air ticket itself. Moreover, there are many other ‘what ifs’ to consider such as if she ran away or commit suicide etc. There are too many disadvantages and responsibilities for me to bear. I rather stay away from them. Less worries. We have to live our lives less stress free and enjoy it!

    • RE: All About Life Without Maids

I work part-time, has 2 kids,7&10yrs old now. No maids are simply wonderful. No worries of invasion of privacy when hubby n I needs quiet moments together when kids are in school! 💋

My place is big and cleaning is a nightmare everyday but as time passes, you'll know how to allocate your time for which chores.
I invested in machines which works great but of course not perfect.
For floors, I uses Roomba and scooba. These are great inventions. At days when I feel like taking a break, I just let the machine do wonders for me at home. They vacuum and mop the whole house for me. I dry wipe, mop and wet wipe my rooms and living area everyday. A clean freak!
As for ironing, I'll segregates them and iron twice a week. I pamper myself with laundry services for hubby's business wear. Will priorities children's school uniforms first follow by my own.
Meals wise, double boiled soup with slow cooker, Pre-prepare marinated meats in small quantity and defrost in the morning for lunch and dinner as required. Will buy fresh fish only on the day that I want to cook. Do not like frozen fishes for steaming as they tend to taste stale. Dropped by mum's place once a week for delicious home-cooked meal. Weekends are eat-out days, a time for me to rest and enjoy.
Time planning is very important. Don't get stressed out over undo chores. Let tomorrow worries itself. Just settle whatever you need for the day. Time spent with the kids and hubby are more important.

😂 Give it a try. I think helpers are not reliable and cannot be relied on no matter where they come from.
