    • RE: DSA 2019

      Dear All

The DSA 2018 thread had served me well. Been wanting to share my views but did not managed to find the time.
So I thought I will offer my perspectives, observations for those who may find my journey relevant.
My boy tried DSA HCI in 2017, didn’t get it, ended up in another SAP School not having his sport as CCA. He had to take another CCA and continue training externally. He is vying to be C Div Champion this year, and make it to National Training Squad next year. I can say that it has not been easy for him, and I foresee tougher days ahead to balance sports, CCA and studies. We are working with CCA head to find a solution at the moment. Profile in primary school (NYPS), playful, intelligent, but can’t be bothered with PSLE.
My girl tried DSA MGS and RGS in 2018. She (also NYPS) was diligent, among the top students from P1 to P4. At P4, she pursued a lot of interests, winning national individual medals in swimming, fencing and track & field, also in school team for Guzheng. Studies suffered as a result. It was a journey to get her to drop to only 2 in P6, in which she tried DSA for both. She eventually DSA into RGS, which gave me some insights into RGS DSA approach, my observation of their enrollment philosophy in general, and also my understanding of DSA support in RGS.
Kind folks here have given a lot of wonderful and level-headed advice.
However, if anyone finds my journey, experience relevant, feel free to PM me if you have specific questions.
Qualification statement: I am not an expert on DSA.
All the best for those trying DSA in 2019.
