    • RE: NUS / NTU medicine application 2018/2019

      petitemum:
T compare YLL and LKC, in the case of ds 2 years back, we considered the following:

      1. fees and bursaries- LKC is way more expensive than YLL but it provides more bursaries than YLL.
2.distance- YLL is nearer and more convenient.
      3. hostel- LKC students are encouraged to stay in the hostel.
4.teaching style-YLL adopts traditional lectures and tutorial style while LKC adopts team based learning.
5.male and female ratio: yes, we actually considered this. YLL has more girls while LKC has many more boys.
      6. track record- no doubt YLL has a long history, but the Imperial College London has a long history too and has a worldwide reputation. LKC MBBS cert would bear both NTU and Imperial logo, if it matters.
7.professors- LKC has strong team support from London. There are professors from India too.
Hi, petitemum, Thank you so much for the excellent detailed sharing! Wondering if you could share which school your child chose? And your views about the pros and cons of team based learning and traditional lectures/tutorial styles? Thank you!

In addition, as compared to LKC, do you think NUH is an advantage to YLL? Are most of YLL professors also doctors in NUH? If so, would YLL students have more opportunities or easier to get access to hospital resource, attachment, etc.?Thanks.

Hello! I would appreciate it if you could advise on this:

My child has been offered a place in both NUS and NTU Medicine. For her to make an informed decision, I'd appreciate it if you could share your views about the pros and cons, etc. of each medical school, and what factors should be considered for choosing the school.

Which school is your preferred one (from your perspective)? For those previous applicants who got offered in both schools for the past years, do you think more of them chose NUS? Any idea on the percentage? Thank you very much!

Of those offered both YLL and LKC, most chose YLL. That gives you an indication of which is the preferred med school between the two.

Hi jtoh: Thank you very much! I'd appreciate it if you could share on the reasons why most chose YLL. Thank you!
