Personally find Perth quite a boring place.

Came back recently... like nothing much to do over there.

      Highly recommended that you self-drive.
Else you will be stuck in city area and probably can complete the itinerary within 2 days. :imcool:

Why was it boring? Too many days there? My itinerary for my dec trip there is packed to the brim. We took a F&E package that included 2 full day tours to Swan Valley and Fremantle/Mandurah area. Looks interesting to me. We are also taking the cab to Caversham and Perth Zoo/AQWA on our own. I am going to Subiaco Station Street markets and Burswood Casino as well.

For Perth, it’d be boring after 6-7 days there. It’s already better now with the supermarkets open till 9pm weekdays. I was there when I was a kid and shops closed at 5pm. hahaha

Don’t want to drive as DH isn’t comfortable with it. Cabbing is a cheaper alternative than joining the tour operators. Was thinking of catching the public transport - train, ferries etc - but gave up coz we have no time to lose. Just cab lor…

Agree. Nothing much to do in the city for more than 2 days. Need to drive out to Margaret river, pemberton, Albany, wave rock etc

For zoo can just take a ferry ride across from the jetty at the SwanBells there. My kid enjoy the ferries ride. We tried bus to the AQWA enjoying the scenenary and austraila housing design along the way. Took train to the Fremantle town and various directions to explore.
Within Perth city there is free CAT buses available too.

Anyone knows if there is any chinese restaurant near to Goodearth Hotel? We are staying there for five nights. What can we do at the Pinnacles Desert? Is half a day sufficient? Are we able to ride the quad bike or go kart?

                Hey Everyone,

Have to revive this thread for a bit. Intending to visit Perth this mid-November. Hotels are super expensive but I managed to grab some good deals.

Miss Maud Swedish Hotel - $189 p/n (for 2 nights)
Four Points by Sheraton - $137 p/n (for 2 nights)
                Mantra on Murray - $169 p/n (for 1 night)
                Goodearth Hotel - $157 p/n (for 8 nights)

Anybody has comments for these hotels and their prices?

Also intending to make our way down to Cottesloe Beach, Rottnest Island and Penguin Island. Unsure how to get there and thus may need some help.

Pinnacles Desert is super far from Perth. Around 7 hours car ride back and forth. I'm not sure of any Chinese restaurants near Goodearth but you should try Vietnamese cuisine in Australia - they are very good compared to Vietnamese cuisine in other places (strangely, even better than the native country)

There is a train station near Cottesloe Beach. A short walk to the beach.

To go to Rottnest Island, can take ferry from Barrack's Street jetty (about 1.5hrs) or from frementle (about 30min). Think there is also ferry service from Hillary's Cove. Pack a pinic basket if u plan to be at Rottnest for a couple of hours. Bike's r available for rent to go round the island.

The last time I went to Penguin Island, we drove to rockingham, then hop onto a ferry. Very short ferry ride. On the way to Penguin Island, the ferry will pass by Seal Island. Can see many lion seals sunbathing on the island.
