but really i love this community of people in this forum for this, for actually helping out without being judgemental. i do know kids may change their views and what they want to do, but all we can do is to help them out with what they think is important for them during any given period of life

in fact one parent suggested leave out the third dsa choice if i dont feel any other school is a good fit, it makes sense, but yea, still trying to make sure i dont leave out any good choices and miss out on the opportunity!

          Oooo... teleportation.... I like!

But on the flip side... I will never want to get into a pod even if it works. How do we know if the pod merely destroys the current me and recreates a fake (but completely similar) me at the other end? Hmmm...

I would like to recommend NJC, as the schools fees are relatively more affordable as compared to the independent IP schools. And unlike SAP schools, I think it is slightly more accommodating to have a less than perfect Chinese score.

            All the best!
Thanks Zeal mummy! Yes, NJC is one of her DSA considerations. We are planning to apply to it through Leadership and Visual Art. Also, there is a current misunderstanding across her and her friends. For DSA, is it supposed to be strictly the same 2 Talent Areas for the schools we choose, with a max. of 6 schs and 2 TAs per sch (not including SOTA)? Or is it up to any 2 TAs for a sch?

your daughter can try the Non-SAP (IP or O-level track ) schools.

                  Eg. (IP schools ) -

Cedar Girls, SCGS, National JC, Temasek JC or MGS (IB)
Thanks for the recommendations! We are considering NJC and MGS. Not sure about SCGS or Temasek JC. We do not qualify for any of the Talent Areas for Cedar Girls, but if we did we would have considered it as my girl has an older friend studying there.

If I’m not wrong, non-Singaporeans do not qualify for the EESIS scholarship. So if you choose to DSA (or go via Sec 1 posting) into an Independent School like RGS, the school fees can be quite hefty especially for a foreigner.

So pls check out their school fees (or any available financial assistance) before you commit.
Yes, I am aware. Thanks for reminding me, zac's mum! However, it is not the school fees that we are worried about, as we can easily pay them off. Our main concern is that they prioritise SG Citizens or SPRs during the DSA selection process. I think it would be quite hard to enter through leadership, if so?

Hello. My kid went in RGS thru leadership domain last year. She was under waitlist which was converted.

My 2-cents, just go ahead and apply but be mindful of the difficulty level. Once secured the opportunity for an interview, the rest is up to her. CCA leadership would be a plus point but the experience of initiating a fund-raiser is very valuable, in fact was asked during the interviews (experience in community events).

As per the grandmasters’ advice above, please note the hefty fees for non-citizen ($1,300 p/mth). Do keep an open mind and explore all options carefully.

Unlike most other DSA domains, leadership requires no extra submission and also no CCA commitment. So no harm trying. Do note u only have 3 DSA choices ya. All the best
Yes, thanks so much, AHsDad. Actually, we still have a blank space for our DSA choices so we are quite hesitant to remove RGS from our league. But then I heard that sequencing is also considered? If so, should we just put RGS up front or some school like NJC that might be easier to get into? Thank you!

A more viable “teleporting” possibility could be like the “Avatar” movie?

Currently we have synthetic arms that communicate some sensations to the wearer. Wearer can feel certain coarse sensations through the synthetic arms. synthetic arm is connected to the stump via some wirings and wearer move the synthetic arm like how they used to move their actual arm- signals from brain to the stump and continue through wires into the synthetic arm. And it is wired network.

Now we have wireless 5G. Quantum technology could be like wireless 5 “trillion” G - instant signal across space and I read, almost across time.

Just like wearer wired control their synthetic arm and get some coarse sensations, next time we can “quantum” control (wireless 5 trillion G) our avatars on moon and get instant sensations as if we are on the moon ourselves. :scared:

Future jobs of our NUSH DSA students :?:
