      Hi fellow parents,

My son has pretty decent results but might be a little inconsistent. He has E2K, some Math Olympiad medals and has AL9 during his P5 overall and AL8 for his P5 final year exam. He has strong interest in Science and Math (especially Science).

He is keen on the TJC IP program as he participated in TJC’s e-Think Challenge last year and learned something about that school and has very favorable impression of the school.

He is also keen on the Victoria School IP program due to chatter between this classmates and their parents.

I am very keen on try for the DSA-Sec for these two schools for him. Based on an earlier post, it appears that about 1 in 3 P6 kids applied for one.

Also these schools have programs relating to Science and/or Math based on an earlier Tableau report prepared by another parent.

I would like to know what can I do to ‘prepare’ him for the DSA application. It seems that the ‘interview’ is very important and there might be some selection test(s). Anything I can prepare him since the March holidays is approaching?

Also, what are the ‘odds’ of success for him? I would like to set his expectation so that he does not get too disappointed.

When usually the DSA key dates updated? Checked the MOE website, still last year dates.

Just sharing our personal experience as well as those from friends whose kids did PSLE in the stressful year 2021.

If your child aims to get into the really popular schools like RI, HCI, NUSH, RGS, MGS, NYGH, SNGS … and your child is good at both Math and Science (participated and won medals for Olympiad etc), our advice is forget about Math, it’s overly competitive and many have the same certs and medals your child might have.

FOCUS and GO ALL OUT FOR SCIENCE DSA!

Even for RI, Science is a really much, much less competitive DSA Domain to get in than Math. Go for Science Competitions and Olympiads and if your child can attain good achievements in the domain, the chances to get into popular schools like RI will be much higher than Maths. Quite a number of our frienda learnt about this fact and prepared their children well in Science, and guess what, the kids are in RI now.

Kindly share any enrichment center to recommend for RSO & SPSO training? Tks. 🙏

If you expect disappointment, then you can never really get disappointed.

Some kids don't mind the disappointment of not receiving any offer....until they find out others received their COs, especially when the others didn't have a better track record in school.

Parents have to manage DSA carefully. These days, kids are a lot more fragile.

Yeah. Thought that quote was a good one from the girl.

Hi, there is already an existing DSA 2022 thread with exactly the same name. No need to create a new one.
