Kind of don’t really want to receive results, especially rejected / unsuccessful results.. While waiting is like still possible to receive positive results.. 🤣🤣🤣

Actually for me I rather the rejection letter come early than the uncertainty of waiting. Then at least we can move on and 💯 focus on PSLE. It’s abit distracting, as much as I try to forget about it.

I totally agree! Haha... My girl prefers NYGH. She did went for the selection tests on 9 July in NYGH for Math and Science so now we wait for 28 July for NYGH to notify if there is any interviews. But most likely, i think she has to use her results to get into NYGH. They just have to continue to work for it.
Good luck on NYGH application ! Given your girl never do any Olympiad competition, how she find both the science and math tests in NYGH?

Oh was thinking selection camp entry ticket purely based on first round result as lots of students do not participate in any Olympiad competition.[/quote]
And this is the \"criterial\" (I think..) for final decision on CO/WL/Rejection

NUS High School considers various qualities and attributes and does not focus on students' past achievements alone. The selection tests, camp and interview assess the understanding and application of mathematics and science that have been taught in schools. There will also be general knowledge questions to assess how widely read students are in the fields of mathematics and the sciences. We also look for qualities such as problem solving abilities, passion and motivation, independence, creativity and communication abilities.

            Hope this help!

Yes to your comments too, one side hope don’t come then still can harbour hope, one side hope faster know and move on, it’s contradicting..
              :?

I had a couple of times blurted out excitedly: “Hey, good news…” or “Hey, look at this!” and the kid came running over with face lit up: “Is it what I think??”

In the end, it was just some mundane thing I wanted to say like I managed to find the exact type of pencil case he was looking for…made him so crestfallen at the anti-climax.

So now I have learnt not to use the phrase “good news”. I just say whatever it is straightaway.

We were on waiting list for a tour group holiday…supposed to inform us end-June whether got seats or not…i didnt chase anything, thought no hope liao, ytd 20 July they called me and said got 2 seats given up by others, do we still want the tour. Straightaway told son this news (without using “good news” lol), he said let’s go. And let’s not give up hope while waiting for DSA either.

She said Math was super tough even though there are only 7 qns. Its Math Olympiad kind of qns which she wasnt trained for... so i guess Math is out for her. There are like at least 120 girls in the auditorium doing the same test. Science on the other hand was conducted in the science laboratory. They were each given 2 tasks... so it was very fun for my girl doing the experiment and explaining her findings. She's leaning more towards science. So I guess for us, it was the experience that matters regardless if she gets any CO/WL from this DSA exercise. :imcool:

Thanks Jaspire! DSA route is definitely not easy as we want. Looks like if kids want to dsa math and science, Olympiad kind of training help.

For NYGH , as long as good overall academic result is good to be shortlisted for selection test. But tests are hard.

For RGS, a good portfolio and academic are equally important.

Good luck and let’s work hard for the psle
