Good points! Hope your kid will take the DSA results well, come what may!SG_KP1\" post_id=\"2071055\" time=\"1655779920\" user_id=\"188234:
To me, the aggregate statistics only say so much. If you assume the % of unique applicants follows the % of applications, the chance of success for IP is ~23%-25% and the chance of success for non-IP is 35%-36%.
The rub is that one will be hard pressed to find any individual kid that has these exact odds. I can imagine a scenario where a kid has a 99.9% chance of success. There are probably also groups of kids (certain characteristics and accolades) that have a 50% chance of success. Of course, if some have odds that are above average, there must be some with odds that are below average. The second rub is that while many students probably have 6+ schools they would be happy with, many are only willing to take themselves out of the S1 posting for 1 or 2 schools. If you go this route, it can make the odds even longer.
So I think the key is to try and understand where one stands and have reasonable expectations from there. I have always encouraged people to get a broad range of prior DSA candidates that were both successful and unsuccessful, as every year there are kids that look great but don't make it and other kids that are successful (for better or worse, people tend to anchor around the prior experiences of those that are closest to them).
I have also always thought that if the kid was doing things out of intrinsic interest, then it doesn't matter whether get DSA or do not get DSA. The time will have been well spent and benefitted the child regardless. My kid this year applied, and I guess we are now in the waiting game phase. I think with the right attitude there is not much to lose and a lot to gain, so might as well give it a try. -

ACSI Robotics email received.

Can I check if any parents here contacted NUSHigh for an alternative test date? The trial dates for schools clash. I wonder if NUS High accommodates this request?
