Have answered you before
For each point,
- period(s) >> ie timeline
- awards/activities name
- brief description (200-250 character limit)
You will have plenty of time to prepare the form from the start of the DSA exercise
ak ok, sorry about that! I didnt realise i asked you earlier ha ha, i have been spending lot of time on this ksp forum and lost track of it
much appreciate your reply though
can i ask you this question: my kid is generally passionate and skilled in math and science, so looking up schools with strong focus on these areas, so far i find nush and njc as the best choices, trying to identify the third choice, what do you think will be the logical third one? (ofcourse i donno if he will get into any of this, but i am trying to find the best fit
)

Thanks. Fortunately, she doesn’t require tuition so we can afford the time and savings for extracurricular lessons. Piano to relax. MO is for the challenge/ experience (at best bronze) and helpful for psle maths too. Sports is where she spends a lot of time, but she’s willing and happy, plus says she needs it for stress release. For psle prep, doing plenty of past year papers was key
Dear ahsdad
Your dd achievements are amazing. How did she find time for piano MO sports art and still did so well in psle....
If any sign that she get stressed, we’ll step in and review again the commitments. So far so good…🙏🏽 -

Sorry I can’t comment much on this. But my advice (presume u only looking at IP)

1) go thru ALL the 11 IP options. check their websites and let ur son check it out as well to get his buy in and preference. NUSH may have specialty in math/science but the other schools not worse off academically. In fact, may also possibly provide better holistic fit
2) do look at other considerations such as distance from home, finances, CCA
3) NUSH is 100% DSA, either thru maths OR science. so are u considering to use both slots? You only have 3 choices. Probably better to just opt for the stronger subject, but it depends whether the school or the domain is key focus -
For DSA, the CCA is compulsory to be the same domain that got student admitted thru DSA, correct? So DSA through sport, the CCA will have to be that sport. Any DSA domain that allow students to choose other non DSA related CCA?
-
Yes. Most DSA have obligation to join the related CCA, especially sports. At least I know leadership does not have CCA commitment

1)hmm, ok, we actually pretty much followed the process you just mentioned(so i started with non-ip schools as well). Based on this research, IP seems preferable for his way of learning. One my son looked at nush website he pretty much discarded all others, had to make his check just in case, but he is quite sure he will fit in nush the best(we also read in this forum and other about the peer grp, how the kids are naturally inclined to play quiz etc., he was excited about it, he doesnt have anyone who enjoys such stuff except his cousin)
Sorry I can’t comment much on this. But my advice (presume u only looking at IP)

2)Distance not an issue, i will be changing house based on the school to the same area, finances also not an issue, prepared for it
As you mentioned CCA, yes it is one of other main considerations as i understand the kids spend considerable time on it( not sure how many days, it will be of help if you can shed some light on this) but again nush seems to have his most facourite choices football and chess, i am checking other schools for this, as long as any sports is there he will generally enjoy
3) For nush they clearly said appy in any one math or science and they will look into both, and not use up two choices
otherwise i would have done that ha ha. For his its not about math and science but academics in general that he truly enjoys, he says if his interest changes its fine because everything is essentially a science or some such thing. But pretty sure he is not good at arts kind of creative fields, so strong academic focus is the key
I read the your post where you mentioned you child didnt need tuitions and enjoyed all those other pursuits, sounds quite similar to my situation(maybe not) but in general he does well on his own and more importantly enjoys what he does. So,thats why explaining so much to you as someone who might be able to understand my situation
He thinks quantum physics is going to be the future and has been exploring where to go to get into that field later
So i am trying not to go by popularity of a school but rather than best fit, so didnt look at RI etc(more so because his scores tend to fluctuate, in on SA he score 100 and another 94 for math, science also similar, cant say and MT tamil can be in 80's range) hence nush first obvious choice, second njc and third Temasek JC maybe not sure(also not focusing on how hard it is to get into these schools actually but trying to find the best fit only and see how it goes)
more importantly trying to make sure i am not missing any good options.
Also being a co-ed school (boys and girls) is an important consideration -

I checked that one too, but seems thats the pathway to more of technical education, my son wants to go into research fields, thats why seeing the offerings in nush he is excited, he is like \"if not nush doesnt matter which school, rest all same to me\" , i am the one searching for option no.2 and 3

It’s interesting and I am really keen to know more: Students start doing “research” at Seconday level at NUSH ?
