Wishing the very best to the children taking the PSLE!

I’m not sure what to make of the practice where sports coaches reach out indirectly via a 3rd party to the parent to apply pressure tactics, saying “You were successful for the school’s interview but if I include your child’s name on my list will you definitely come to the school? You need to give me an answer now or I will not include the name. Because if you get an offer and you don’t come, it will affect the school team for that year.” How can they expect a decision when we haven’t received all the offers? Is this even allowed?
Yes , i heard of this. As much as the child wish to consider the school , but , it is fair if the school can give the child some time to consider over the various choices n option … in this instance , this child wanna see how is the performance for prelims b4 deciding but the coach keep asking for confirmation for the CO .

CO offered is not by the first choice of school?

I don't think it matters if the school is the first choice or not as the issue is more about putting pressure on the child/parent to accept the offer when they have not been given enough time to consider it. Some people might want to wait till all the offers are out, others may want to wait till the prelims are over, some others may want to wait till they have sat for the PSLE.

The point is that if the school wants to make the offer, then offer it sincerely and without conditions, just like how some schools have done so. This practice of offering the CO with the condition that we will promise to accept it is rather distasteful, and is actually making me reconsider if this is a coach I really want my child to train under for the next 4 years.

From my experience, if u are not sure which school to select yet and need time, you just need to reply yes to all verbal Offer. It is impt to have official CO from the schools, once u have it...u got lots of time to decide which school u wanna go to after prelims or even PSLE. Sometimes u just need to be selfish to say yes to all and grab the CO offer. Do take note the timeline

Students with a confirmed offer or on a wait list will be able to submit up to 3 school preferences from 9am on Monday, 23 October 2023 to 3pm on Friday, 27 October 2023.

As such, your concern of coaches, school pressure u will not be Valid at all. Nothing to concern about, infact is a good news. Same apply to interview right? you dont go there and tell them the school is not ur 1st choice?

I be very careful about this approach. In the sporting world, everyone knows everyone so if you lie to the coach, words can get around very quickly. 诚信 is impt too.

There is no lack of integrity , do take know DSA is a system, you just play along with the system. So by being so call \"honest\" at the point of time when u dun know the answer resulted NO CO offered and subsequent dominos effect ...do u think is correct. DSA a \"game', this is how ppl play with the system...if not just go study hard for PSLE and by pass the DSA route.
