DSA 2023
-
My colleague just told me his son who got his result from HCI yesterday said 2022 cohort size is 1095 students. Student council member, so he knew.
Still lesser than RI -
Congratulations to the Class of 2022 on their impressive achievements at the A-Level Examinations. Great effort and excellent results from both top schools! (Both schools published their results on the same day on 17 February 2023)

Let’s celebrate!
As a few KSPs have pointed out, RI does have more students taking the A-levels and hence the results given in percentage would be an estimation/guideline if one would compare them. At medium of 88 for both schools, impressive results! (there’s no need to fight tooth and nail).. Each school has its own merits. HCI has better results for Chinese and Math, whereas RI did better in GP and Sciences.
All the best to all who are keen to DSA! -
Reply from two J1 students from these colleges:
2023 J1 intake:
- HCI: “about” 1050
- RI: 1182, he thinks

FYI: NYGH cohort is close to 400 each year
What I heard from the HCI principal was, number students are around 300 to 350 from each of the 3 sources (HCI high, NYG , JAE) so total cohort size work out to be around 900 to 1050. If your source says 1089, probably this year they take in more?
It seem like, if in any particular year these 2 colleges intake deviate by 50 students towards each other, then it could well be within 100 students difference only. Maybe more often than not the intake numbers will swing by big margin -

Yes I know.
HCI 2022 a level cohort is 1095, still less than RI.
I just want to say the difference is not as big as 20%. That's all.
Honestly, I am in awe of how well the students from both school have performed. Especially if we were to consider the fact that 2022 A level cohort happened to be the covid cohort (started JC in 2021, the height of covid restrictions) so this results is really a testament to their tenacity and hardwork. Really well done. -
@CCK2008, I see that you are obsessed with comparing HCI with RI and like to run down RI.
I have no idea how you conclude which school is more superior or more value added when the information you have gotten is insufficient for comparison. How many students started off at Sec 1 and how many did not advance to J1. And how many students are there at the start of J1 how many students fell out at J2.
I agree that HCI results is impressive. Maybe RI/RGS and RI(JC) should relook into their promo criteria.
Well HCI may be the best school in producing A level results but RI is the No. 1 school choice. :siam: -

It seems to me both are about the same in A level performance. Considering their mean and median. Both drop in mean this year.
