      Hi,

I did a search in the forum but only managed to find information on Primary Math Olympiad. Anyone has information on Primary Science Olympiad? Are there books or websites that we can read more about it?

      Thanks in advance.

          Hi verykiasu2010,

Thank you for your reply. Do you happen to know if there are any material for the participants to read up? I mean there are some past year papers and tuition center for Olympiad Math but I have not come across any for Olympiad science, so strange... :?

i hear that NUSHS is also organizing the National Science Olympiad Singapore, for P5 students, which schools can register and participate.

RI also organized a competition called RSO (Raffles Science Olympiad). It is quite prestigious and only the top 40 gets a prize. (My son was one of them) the top 15 then goes through rigorous training cum selection process and the remain 6 goes on to an international competition, last year held in HK. Will be very important to RI or other schools’ DSA.

To prepare for it, what my son did was actually to read up extensively about some books that i’m not sure of. He did it on his own. Try reading some Secondary schools textbooks (Chem, Bio, Physics). In fact, there isn’t any use if your child has no motivation or interest. you can’t force them. if they are not interested, forget it.

                  Congratulate to your son!

the 2010 Singapore primary science olympaid which is organised by NUSHU was over. Not all students get the chance to take part as I think the participating school will select 5 students to participate in the first round..unlike NMOS and RMSO, students who are keen can take part... 😐

Thanks, and that's correct. My son did not participate and thought he could this year... until he found out it was for p5 students.

My son was selected by his school to take part in this year science olympiad by RI. I asked if there is any training as there are training for Maths olympiad. But he told me, the teachers said, they read up on their own. He did told me that the school had a selection test and only the top 15 pupils were selected for the science olympiad.

Since the competition is on 21 May, I think after his SA1, he must grab all the time to start preparing for his Science Olympiad.
