      Esteema,

Take care. My grandpa and FIL broke hip bone because of fall too and were in community hospital for a month each. Both of them had to walk with the u-shape walking stick after that ( did not recover) , so no choice we had to get a maid due to lack of manpower at home. So I can understand what you are going through as we don’t have siblings to share the load somemore in both cases due to some family dynamics.

I u'stand your sharing. I went thro alone when mum had 2 strokes & I was bearing load alone at a very young age. So, with my DH's family, had always been the one pulling wholevfamily for dinner gatherings (F/M's Day celebration, b'days, CNY, Christmas...) Had done a lot by r'mebring nephews & nieces needs. This time really warm to see fruits of labour in the cohesiveness in managing FIL.

At least now, all knows I've their interests at heart & take my suggestions. Many years back, when I sold my own property, I bought insurance for both PIL. Now, everyone ustand the benefits. Preparing for some reno when FIL in Community Hospital to make place more elder-friendly.

        FLD,
        :thankyou:
Will get the U-shaped walking stick ready. Ya, fall & hip bone fracture is awlfully painful. Alr had a wheelchair MIL used when her ankle tendon tore years ago.

Esteema, I am not sure whether the ex-Alexandra Hospital is still the training ground for Sengkang Hospital. If it is, then you may want to consider the ex-Alexandra Hospital as your PIL’s community hospital. We chose the ex-Alexandra Hospital as my MIL’s community hospital 2 years back when she had a fall. The nurse patient ratio and physiotherapists patient ratio are very good as the hospital was very empty. They hardly have any patient. You can ask your PIL’s current hospital to arrange.

Is Alexandra a Community Hospital now? 2 years back is 2016?

If that location, it's central for us all, then it'll make MIL so happy as most convenient for everybody.

Unfortunately, DH said it's alr closed since June 2015. It's got only A&E apparently.

Thank you for looking out for us.

              Esteema,

List of community Hospitals on the last 2 pages of the link. Not sure how ‘central’ you need the location to be, so just paste here first.

FLD. :thankyou: Appreciate very, very much. You're always looking out for me.

We were given a list by SGH, which includes Ng Teng Fong. DH noticed very bad reviews, hence trying to check for better ones.

I wld choose Ren Ci Community Hospital as better alternative, tho MIL not familiar & prefer NTF.

Esteema, my grandma fell in the bathroom two weeks ago and she is still lying in the hospital waiting to be transfer to St Andrew.

Luckily, there’s no need to operate on her this time round. I recall 10 years ago, she also had a fall and had to undergo an operation to insert a metal rod at her hip.

MIL was there in 2016. At that time, they have closed the hospital and only open their A&E only. However, actually a part of their hospital was still opened and operated as a community hospital. It was manned by staff that were recruited for Sengkang Hospital. Not many people knew about it. They never advertised it as a community hospital. MIL was warded at SGH and SGH’s default community hospital was Bright Vision. We had to plead with SGH to apply us to Alexandra because Bright Vision was too far for PIL and there was no space at NTF and Ren Ci.

I remember there were 2 nurses in each SGH ward that are in charge in post-SGH care. You can ask them about Alexandra hospital. There is no harm in asking.

                      Yikes! Metal rods?!!!

lee_yl, metal rods must be terribly painful! It’s a comfort to know with metal rods & she didn’t hv complains for last 10 years?

We’ll see how the op goes in next few hours.
