Esteema, I am not sure whether the ex-Alexandra Hospital is still the training ground for Sengkang Hospital. If it is, then you may want to consider the ex-Alexandra Hospital as your PIL’s community hospital. We chose the ex-Alexandra Hospital as my MIL’s community hospital 2 years back when she had a fall. The nurse patient ratio and physiotherapists patient ratio are very good as the hospital was very empty. They hardly have any patient. You can ask your PIL’s current hospital to arrange.

Is Alexandra a Community Hospital now? 2 years back is 2016?

If that location, it's central for us all, then it'll make MIL so happy as most convenient for everybody.

Unfortunately, DH said it's alr closed since June 2015. It's got only A&E apparently.

Thank you for looking out for us.

MIL was there in 2016. At that time, they have closed the hospital and only open their A&E only. However, actually a part of their hospital was still opened and operated as a community hospital. It was manned by staff that were recruited for Sengkang Hospital. Not many people knew about it. They never advertised it as a community hospital. MIL was warded at SGH and SGH’s default community hospital was Bright Vision. We had to plead with SGH to apply us to Alexandra because Bright Vision was too far for PIL and there was no space at NTF and Ren Ci.

I remember there were 2 nurses in each SGH ward that are in charge in post-SGH care. You can ask them about Alexandra hospital. There is no harm in asking.
ngl2010,

Thank goodness you clarified! We will certainly check things out! 真谢谢你! 💋

Alexandra Hospital is closed at the moment, and is being taken over by NUH later this year. I believe it is intended to be like a community hospital (with programmes for the aged, palliative care etc), but it’s not open now. I just saw a notice in my lift lobby a few days ago.

          slmkhoo,

          Lift lobby?

Apparently, one BIL drove past SengKang Hospital & had impression they’re under reno. Seems no activity. Will ask when nurses not so busy.

BIL was at Alexandra with his MIL & said AH completed reno & operating now? Or is he mistaken as ano wing? S’times they dobreno in stages?

We live in Queenstown so I guess the hospital decided to inform those who live nearby?

It seems that Sengkang Health has moved out and NUH will start operating there later this year. Or maybe, as you say, it's part NUH and part Sengkang now? But the AH website doesn't mention Sengkang at all now.

                slmkhoo,

Thanks for explaining. Didn't know they post notices in nearby estate. One Aunt staying in Q'stown too.

                Jennifer & ngl2010,

Thank you for your alert to Alexandra Hospital.

Just confirmed with nurse i/c & will apply for SengKang Hospital (which is located within the compounds of ex-Alexandra Hospital.

PILs very pleased with this arrmgt.

                FIL's op was smooth.

                lee_yl,

FIL got the steel rod replacement too. His hip was fractured across, so no choice but put in rod to help support hip.

Now hv to grapple with more elderly health issues relating to diabetes & heart issues.

THANK YOU ALL, for taking your ME time to help reduce my learning curve. Also reduced every family's stress. :thankyou:

                        :thankyou: Janet!

DS hv a proj to 敬佩的长辈 & do a 5 min video interview with grandpa. Suddenly, realized this was so timely & I mentioned to FIL this morning. He seemed very keen, so we watched the 2 interacting at his hospital bed for almost 3 hours. FIL told him abt his WWII & post experiences. It's a good bonding time & very touching moments mid-way.

Now that DS hv content, hope he can write a good piece of proj presentation & clip the relevant part of interview session. More imptly, hope he u'stands the values & aspirations of FIL & learn fr him.

Had been resisting Melotonin, but hopefully tonite can sleep after 11pm News. Really need to rest for ano day of visit tmr. Cooking 生鱼 soup for FIL post-op recovery early tmr morning.
